Suddenly shot up 46p 2% what's going on?
Totally agree with Silverknight, Been into this share for a long time, Worked for them in the 1990s.for six years!
At 10% dividend it's double your money if the divvy is reinvest in 7 years, beauty of compound interest!
I still have friends who work at the Southampton research centre, they are working hard on new gen products, but unfortunately everything takes longer than expected.
If it's any consolation there share save scheme has been a disaster since Brexit, not worth taken out!
A lot of not happy people!
Can only hope this turns positive eventually...
Barney. Not really. I've traded this twice in my ISA and essentially is a long term high dividend payer. Just bought more and happy to collect 10% until the price goes back over £30. I'm sure it will
Most shares been rubbish since brexit
Is there any news to turn this around as its just down every single day now ?
LTi - Top up as you said on 4 March "At a little over 2884p"
I cannot understand why anyone would do this a few days before the budget when it was common knowledge that the UK chancellor was going to hammer tobacco, as he does every year.
Brought at 2884, now it's at 2285 a few days later ???
Hope so Peter, just going down and down currently
If/when interest rates drop I can’t see it doing anything but rise…
I dont see this recovering for a long time now !
Hardboy, it sounds like you're trying to justify this investment to yourself.
Tobacco companies are pretty bad when all is said and done, but as long as I'm receiving divis and hopefully some capital gains if this recovers, then I'm comfortable with the ethical wrangling.
If however they cut the divi and this sinks lower, then tobacco companies are an abomination on our planet and I want a full refund for my capital losses.
Tobacco Companies are seen by many as an unethical investment.
Let's see - they plant a lot of vegetation which takes CO2 out of the air, they employ a lot of people in developing and frontier economies, an analysis of the FTSE100 I read recently said BAT was in the top 3 for ESG Governance.
They also make a product which may be harmful, but a lot of people enjoy. There are plenty of other things which are harmful to our health made which people think it's OK to invest in.
Is it that much of an unethical investment?
Is this good news? sorry if its a dumb question
Deffo an opportunity. all we need is love, and patience-something I struggle with often but hey yield now over 10%. How often do you see that? did wonder if all these highly pubcised class actions had an unwarranted effect.
BAT is not really a UK share it just has it’s primary listing here. It already has a US listing as BTI in the states, if it de listed here and just went for US I don’t see how it changes the business. Altria (mo) is down 3% stateside today as well nothing to do with UK.
P46
it is about time you were flushed down the bog
This is turning into the same sort of dog Imperial became, capital destructive….U.K. shares just uninvestable.
Not bothered about the near future
And where do you expect the SP to go to in the near future LTI?
At a little over 2884p
FTSE100, was only market index, down this morning, so the only obvious thing that was affecting sentiment, was the forthcoming budget. Certainly not a vote of confidence, in the Chancellor. BATS, sp, is now in the region of January 2024, pivot lows, which might be expected to provide support. Having said that , the tobacco sector requires to get back above its 1/3/24, low price, which I have noted down in the Tobacco message page. The first day of each month constitutes a time pivot , from the high and low, that day. Basically if sector trades above high of first day, bullish, if below low of first day, bearish. DYOR.
This is not great. Not sure if this will turn around
Think it will recover Tom? have they anything in the pipeline to release to help?
Wish I had sold on results day. This has become a real dog.
We've managed to retrace back to share price level before results, which is really quite something...
UK fund managers continue to dump FTSE and chase the US market, can't blame them to be honest.
Revised volume projection today , 1,060,000, still lightest volume sunce 29/12/23.Open-last price is still a small proportion of high-low range for today, so still implied indecision, along with light volume.
