Evan.. "no" I don't think so. I think the jump is for one or two reasons, i) the situation in the ME [given they are a defence sector stock], ii) a statement affirming Avon isn't about to go out of business [far from it], and iii) as many have pointed out on this board, the SP represents good value
'lacks momentum'.....certainly not the case today....
I have to wonder (given the size of jump) if some other news is leaking today to be confirmed in an RNS soon....
Avon Protection plc issued a trading update for the FY ended 30th September this morning. Full year trading was in line with the Board's expectations, as expected, trading in the second half of 2023 was stronger than in the first half, with order book growth and higher underlying earnings. H2 adjusted operating profit margin is broadly flat versus H1, the Group’s balance sheet is strengthening net debt-EBITDA on a covenant basis at the end of FY 2023 is expected to have reduced to around 2.0 times, compared to 2.6 times at the end of H1 2023. Valuation is decent if unexciting with forward PE ratio at 16.5x. However, share price remains in a longer run correction and lacks momentum. Monitor for now...

The large spike in volume a month ago was mostly down to a £7M buy. A month later the SP is 15% up.
Guess they were just lucky, or skilful.
Mkt capt and profit not in line ?
Decent update, I've bought in.
Ninespot, on the one hand, I do agree with you as they are a defence sector share - but their product range is quite narrow. That said Bae Systems that makes support combat vehicles, provides ammunition, precision munitions, artillery systems and missile launchers etc etc only made 7.9% whilst Avon = 13%. Avon seems good value to me at the mo.
STILL money to make here
Lucky is the investor who bought in at 582 now sitting on a 13 % profit on less than 5 days....someone always makes money
Previously the mention of WARS would have sent this share upwards .l dont think these Guys have a clue
Looks good value to me.
Is there evidence of this toli....or is it simply a guess on your side?
Institutions are off loading
Someone an awful lot richer and better informed than either of us observed 'The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.'
> 50 % of the company is in the hands of institutions. They no doubt have patience too....
I share their optimism....
..decent level or SP, not decide level..
Evanescent, on what basis do you say that? I believe it will be a very long haul now to anything like a decide level or SP. I also don't believe Avon will be bought, I sense there's an honest denial of that from this ceo - for once. Sell off is not the startegy IMO
Most definitely not dead ....more than happy to wait for the turn.
Happy days
REally odd dead as a door knob ANY ONE HOme
At £6.35 upwards and onwards from here
New low
..the SP seems to be falling away daily, any views on where the bottom is and where the turning point might be? No recent director buys either other than a handful in August. Hopeful Jos's strategy kicks in soon and reverses the tide.. Views?
Ty
..wasn't doubting or challenging your credibility. Just trying to understand your statement a bit better that's all, and it looks like you could be right; it's definitely turning, so could well have been the bottom (IMO). I've always been a fan of the 20 day SMA, so a few more days yet to see where this is really heading.
It is the second time it has bounced of this range
£6.50 saw massive trades totally out of the usual
so its half gut half science
But I chalange you to check my other comments on other shares
