Just checked out CBRE website. Some impressive projects and customers on there , and very diverse. If we can build up a good relationship with them it could be extremely lucrative. Fingers crossed.
Evening all. What a great start to the new year here. I must admit that when we received the RNS regarding First Byte I was a little concerned. My reason being our past episode when APC purchased Green Compliance which resulted in a disastrous set back for the company. However looking at the detail it makes sense to purchase a company with a very similar background to APC's Internet arm. This is the big difference to the Green Compliance deal which really was a purchase that did not fit with the then profile of APC. Now we have more news today showing that APC are coming under the microscope of suppliers and producers of electronics who can see that APC is a top company in this field. What the board have done is strip back the company to its profitable departments and departments that have a history of gaining regular contracts. They are not trying to run before they can walk. The clever introduction of bolt on products and producers will only widen APC's appeal to customers. A bright future indeed if this build of profitability continues. As for the SP I think its possibly that it may stall at this level while a few short term traders take their 10/20 percent profit if they have bought in during the drop 2 weeks ago. However we may well be on the radar now of more investment groups so a push to double figures could be in the pipeline in the near future. Good luck all.
Thanks Sahid I'd missed that bit of news about the Northumbria Universities sports centre contract http://apcplc.com/projects/lighting-upgrade-saves-northumbria-university-51k-energy-cost-per-year/ Nice 10% upward movement in the SP today. The SP can move very quickly as Cockneytaff has eluded to in the past.
Three RNS in one week! Is this really super cautious APC? Things must really be rocking in the camp. Quite a few companies in the UK involved in satellite manufacture and space exploration so 3D looks like a very good addition to the line card. There is also news on the APC website of a lighting upgrade contract at Northumbria universities sports centre won through their facilities management company CBRE. CBRE are one of the largest facility management companies in the world and this will hopefully lead to many more lighting contracts with APC. Last year it was announced that the facility management sector was being targeted by APC as a major growth opportunity and I suspect it is no surprise that the new Chairman came out of this industry and also one of their large individual private investors. As you say Jim, onwards and upwards!
Yes and beyond. With more good news regarding the three growth drivers combined with good or better interim results in April we should see some real traction in SP. News of late is more than encouraging IMO I too will be travelling to the AGM from Yorkshire but is dependent on whether or not I can get a reasonable price for a rail ticket using my "silver top" railcard!! Onwards and upwards
Looks like lots to look forward to at the AGM.
I will be there it will be my fourth year. Looking forward to seeing you there.
I will be traveling 200 miles from Yorkshire to join you..
Anyone going to the AGM? I may well go given that its a Thursday @ 11:00hrs
Great write up, many thanks sahid Exciting times ahead imo. Is an overdue rerate currently in progress?
Fred: You can register for free on ADVFN - APC bulletin far more active these days than this one. Been watching it for a few years but not a contributor. Glasshalfull12 Jan '18 - 00:08 - 753 of 753 0 2 0 Good evening everyone, Before I comment on todays acquisition news, I think it worth reiterating zipstucks comment from the post above regarding current trading. Reminder that the final paragraph of todays RNS confirmed a positive start to FY18. So firstly congratulations due to Richard, Tony & the APC team for continuing the momentum evidenced from their recent presentation & FY17 results. On the acquisition, well First Byte Micro appear to be an excellent fit with the existing APC Locator business & the net payment of 500k for a business delivering 200k PBT appears a very good price as cockerhoop also mentions in an earlier post. The RNS indicated that PBT was 193,541 in 2016 & the company expected to see profit growth in 2017, so perhaps slightly over 200k PBT in 2017? Importantly it confirms to the market that APC are now firmly back on an even keel & entering a growth phase, a point emphasised by the CEO via the statement & further confirmation of focus on the 3 main growth drivers that I covered in early December 2017 (via post 741). At the time I said, The company confirmed they are looking at small bolt on acquisitions that would allow them to increase both their product base (or supplier relationships) & present an opportunity to service new customer bases. Such small deals would also present them cross-selling opportunities & ability to remove costs. So increasing revenue & earnings enhancing at a stroke! Well it certainly looks like APC pulled that off with todays acquisition. I finished my December post by indicating that I was excited to see what APC would achieve in the months & years ahead. Nothing has changed and todays news reinforces this view especially in light of the positive start to FY18 & details of the First Byte acquisition. Kind regards, GHF
any chance you could copy the ADVFN write up onto here? or precise some of the content Thanks
Nice to see the SP responding to the acquisition news. Still more in the tank with an effective doubling of F17 profits for a reasonable cost. Good write up on ADVFN APC bulletin board by GHF
Thanks sahid the more I research the more I get confused!! The RNS described FBM as "a franchised and independent distributor" the German GLYN.com website includes FBM as a "Cooperation Partner". https://www.glyn.com/Contact/England When I look at the "worldwide locations" included on the FBM website I can not see Germany listed as a location!! Does everyone else understand this?? or is it just me??
I downloaded their product list and it details 85,000 products from various manufacturers.
Fred: I didn't get that either. They were originally owned by GLYN but changed their name in the late 80's to FBM. Glyn is still a large international distributer and list FBM as their UK office. I think maybe some journalistic licence has been used to beef up the image in the past. Hopefully APC will still be able to utilise that purchasing power going forward but either way on paper a good addition.
Many thanks sahid I also could not understand the following extract taken from the FBM website? any ideas? "Here are just some of the reasons UK manufacturing choose First Byte Micro: 100m Group T/O Security - UK office of Glyn Germany 10m Group stock holding"
I believe that this is the name given to the section that assists customers with hard top find products for which they hold no franchise. This is exactly the same as the FBM acquisition but FBM appear to offer a much broader product line so should be a good fit.
Encouraging. Could someone please provide a brief explanation of "APC Locator product line" Many thanks
A very synergistic bolt on. Should be massive economies of scale here and nice to see that 2018 is going to plan.
This is the bit that I like, "now that we have established a profitable base" Richard Hodgson, CEO of APC Technology Group, commented: "I am very pleased to welcome Pete and the rest of the First Byte Micro team to APC. The combination of their business with our APC Locator division gives us a significant presence in the growing market for the sourcing of hard to find and obsolete electronic components and products. This business line allows us to offer a value added solution to our extensive military and aerospace customer base in particular. As we set out in our results presentation, now that we have established a profitable base, we are concentrating on three main growth drivers: growth through increased bookings from our existing technologies, in particular those that sit is high growth markets; growth through the signing of new complementary product lines; and growth through targeted bolt-on acquisitions. We are already seeing traction in the first two and this acquisition marks the start of the third. The acquired business will add to the exisiting business which has started fiscal year 2018 well and trades in line with expectations.
Malcolm: Not sure if I can make the AGM but hopefully will be able to get feedback from a good contact. Excepting an OEM IPO not sure if we can expect any SP rise before then without meaningful news but live in hopes like the rest of the longs. Dont like the gap opening up between bid and offer. Looks to me as though the broker is aware of a distressed seller lurking but at the same time a few buyers around. Cake and eat it comes to mind!!
A little bit of interest over the last few days at this level.
Thanks Sahid, I couldn’t resist a little top up this morning. Surely it must be higher than this, come the AGM. Maybe I will see you there?
I think there could be an overlooked gem in APC which could propel it well beyond 10p overnight - https://openenergymarket.com I believe for the first time we see a valuation (307K) on our 15% investment in OEM listed in the F16 Results because of an upturn in OEM's business. I am familiar with this company. Take a look at what they do and the image they portray and it appears a lot more professional than a company valued at 2m!!! They have a huge addressable market, very little competition and according to APC their business is growing. I guess it also helps that APC CEO sits on their board.
