Would be nice if someone showed interest in ALM

I think you're spot on. Investment Trusts etc. nearly always trade at a discount to NAV. It's true that ALM have a way to go yet, both in terms of closing the discount and in increasing NAV. But as you said a share price north of 70p would be very tempting to take some profit.
I have confidence that FW will become increasingly easier to value as the adoption of 5g becomes apparent and revenues grow. However, Spin is a different matter. I'm not qualified to have an opinion on the technology and even if the tech took off, it still seems difficult to predict a fair price. Spin seems a more binary play and I'm not sure I'd stick around based solely on the potential of Spin.
Yes I'd probably sell half and keep half in for a free ride if it got to 60/70s
There's been a lot of talk about the NAV of the portfolio. It is a good reason to stay invested here but would seeing a SP that matched NAV exactly be something or a rarity?
If NAV is 90-95p I'd think a 20-25% discount would probably be more normal?
Therefore if the SP reached the mid 60's or even low 70's I'd be selling for sure
what did you think?
50p -55p would be a good target price once the auction is complete. I'd then expect some news flow around broker re-rating. Edison could come out with a revised NAV for FW and I can also see Investor Chronicle flying the flag a little more now that it has done its alpha report. So fingers crossed for a good run up to the end of 2020.
Fingers crossed for you then Loot
Looks like there's resistance at the current price
Its been yo-yoing for the last few days.
Hopefully if we can break free of this 50-55p is achievable even without news
I'm hoping once the CBRS auction is over Fed will be the golden egg

Decided to buy more to take advantage of recent momentum. I may regret it as this takes ALM to 20% of my portfolio. Not really comfortable with that level but I see my latest tranche as short term; if it rises or falls 20% then I'm out. It's also a bit of a milestone day for me because I've now reached break even on my average purchase price; I also bagged the special dividend earlier in the year so I'm in profit overall.
We're seeing almost daily share price increases at the moment and this is directly related to the CBRS auction which has another couple of months to run. I think the auction also focuses investment on 5g again, at least for those that can see beyond Covid. Finally, and it's been said several times on here, over 80% of the company is owned by institutions. I cannot see a significant sell off in the near to medium future.
$8.25
Sp is creeping up and $4M has just been invested in Spin. We might hit the 50p SP I predicted a few weeks back before anyone else soon so it’s defo a reason to hold.
I have been accumulating as I hope that the discount to NAV and the tech nature of the holdings will provide some protection in the recession. Also with the BoE talking about money printing I am worried about holding too much cash.
I've got just over 5k invested and I'm very close my break even so I've decided not to invest further amounts.
Think the prospects are good for the next few months.
Personally I'm hoping for a takeover or an Fed IPO.
With 80% of the company shares with institutions any decent news will send this up very quickly.
But good luck to you if you fancy putting more in.
I believe the auction process takes 2 to 3 months and after only a couple of weeks into the process we are seeing almost a daily rise in share price. If this continues I'm tempted to buy more ALM even though I've always considered ALM a minority hold in my portfolio. What do people think? Can we really expect this to rise as the auction proceeds with regular reports of increasing gross proceeds.
Gross proceeds were ticking up about $200M per day by the end of last week and had passed the $1B mark by the end of the 3rd round on Friday.
You can see the results from the following link - they are usually available within 15 mins of the end of each auction:
https://auctiondata.fcc.gov/public/projects/auction105
After 11 rounds Thursday (July 30), the FCC's CBRS auction had drawn $$723,243,566 in gross proceeds.
Yeah good to see the volume picking up nicely Pablo
And you beat to me the ‘meow’ :-)
Hopefully we’ll get a nice run of news in the coming months.
Hoping fed and spin do the business for us. £1 would be a delight
Meeeoow.
In all seriousness though volume is good with some chunky buys. Alm need spin to come up trumps to not be a one trick pony. First to market will be key. If spin comes in then this share is £1.50 + all day long. Gla
I’ve got manners. I also know when to mind my own business
Nucky, it is easy to have manners. Now point out what I said wrong?
Dungiven... gone do me a favour.. **** off
There may still be ups and downs often there is with a tip. But it's good to know that a respected IC investment journalist thinks the same way as us and we're not mad!
Nucky, I imagine that you are now going to sell. You have complained about this share for a long time do now is your opportunity to get out. If you continue to hold, please don’t be so negative. I still continue to hold. Lucky share for me tbh.
In profit for the first time ever )))) bizarre
Yes apologies tipped in the Alpha part of the IC subscription - I get that separately by email so forgot to check. Long 18 page pdf.
It just confirms why we are all holding.
Rumours of nvidia taking out Arm. Spin could also be a target ??
IC have, today, issued an Alpha report.
