Surely this news should get us back above the 2p mark. Big Market and the potential for other European Countries to follow suit if its a success. Lets hope the Marketing Company know what they are doing !
good to me :)
This doesn't look like a good sign
A new announcement in some other market wouldnt hurt either. I read that Akers had improved their sales team up to around 8-10 staff. France and China appear to be the positive results of this so far. Akers now getting positive attention from media http://www.bullbearings.co.uk/traders.views.php?gid=1&id=391
An extra $1.25m would be a positive step forward. Chinese announcement suggests somekind of of ramp up period so I'm guessing it take 12 months before we see anything these. Plenty of positives and hopefully more to come. It won't take much to get the price moving, hopefully the management team can finally start to deliver.
There is the Chinese deal with Novotek to distribute the PIFA product. Potential $33.2m over 10 years averaging $3.3 million per year. The company looked it was going down the tubes at the beginning of 2012 but these two announcements will hopefully transform their fortunes. http://www.akersbiosciences.com/documents/11-26-12_NovotekTherapeutics_RNS_final_TAN.pdf
Nothing wrong with being cautious Pieman. 5m units over 24 months is still $1.25 million a year. I really think it will exceed that though. France wont enforce the law until they have enough units and its already been delayed from Nov 2012 to March 2013 due to that. Akers are stating they are well placed to cope with the demand, but it depends on how effective Sono are at distributing/ marketing. The French breathalyzer website sell units in packs of 5 at £12.95 with free shipping. Buying one at £2.99 incurs a charge of £2.50. No brainer really. Amazon will charge postage as well for single units. Buying in bulk will help generate more sales and I also think that many people wont just put them straight in the car They will want to learn how to use them, be curious about them and they will have an initial novelty value. And the summer will be here soon! http://www.frenchbreathalyzer.com/disposable.htm
Thanks for the breakdown per unit. I think your estimates are a little overcooked but if Akers could secure 5m in orders over the next 18-24 months that would be positive. Why are my estimates below yours? The roll out will take a while as with any new requirement and the fine for not having a test is only 16 euros, from what I have read. With overseas travellers hiring cars most will not use the tests so whilst each hirecar will need to have them, two tests could remain in a car for a year easy. Don't get me wrong this is great news for Akers if approved and especially if other countries follow suit but progress will be slow and uptake will take time. A step in the right direction though
Pieman - The latest order equalled 0.30 per unit (3.5 million units @ $1.05m). Akers own 20% of the agreement with Sonos so I imagine $0.50 per unit is a fair estimate. There are 30 million registered cars in France. There are 80 million visitors per year and being conservative , lets say 10 million hire a car or use their own. It is recommended that each car has 2 units each , so if you use one , you still have an extra if the police stop you. So as an annual conservative estimate, lets say 40 million cars use 2 units = 80 million. French Contralco and Redline are already producing units lets say Akers get an order for 20 million units in 2013? Thats $10m , a substantial amount of revenue for a minnow like Akers. If this law is rolled out in other countries, the potential is staggering. Hopefully Akers will be established enough to enter quickly into any emerging market Also, Akers is the only company listed on the stock market so for any interested investors , Akers will be the first port of call in the French market. I cant find Contralco or Redline on any financial market so assume they are still private.
You must be right, hopefully it isn't delayed. I have just checked out on Amazon and you can pick up a breathalyzer for £2.08 and you need two of these so I'm just wondering what the profit is for Akers on one of these both from a production and royalty standpoint
Pieman - my guess is that Akers may wait until they have received French certification of their breathalzer product before announcing. Expected Jan 2013.
Does anyone know if we will get a Jan update. We normally get one around about now ?
Akers have two competitors in the French breathalyzer market, Contralco and Redline. Correct me if I'm wrong but I cant find French Contralco or South African Redline on any financial market. Im assuming they are still privately owned. So at this point, any investors showing interest in the now potentially vast breathalyzer market can choose Akers as its listed on LSE.
Labrow - Akers & Nicolette do own shares, see their webpage. Site just hasnt updated this info http://www.akersbiosciences.com/investor/index.php
I have always wondered why the directors have zero holding in their company?
rick43 - 15 million foreign cars is probably a conservative estimate as France receives 80 million visitors a year. Obviously its not an island restricted to boat or plane access and many European/ UK holiday makers can drive straight in to the country. Akers liquidity now appears to be good - they will receive $1.1m for the French order, $550k distribution fee from Sonos and they recently issued shares to a US politician raising at least $450,000 http://www.akersbiosciences.com/investor/documents/12-11-12_ABI_Sono_RNS_Final.pdf http://www.akersbiosciences.com/investor/documents/17SEP12_Knox_investment_RNS_final.pdf Not sure if any revenue has been received from the recent deal to distribute in China
I also read that the date for the introduction of the French breathalyser law has been forwarded to March 2013 due to lack of breathalyser kits. Good news for Akers - they will have a two month window of opportunity for large sales volume to the French car owners. Interesting to see that the foreign car volume is so high at approx. 15 million. The kit I have has only a two year life so replacement volumes will also be a consideration. sp is shooting up now on low trading sizes - overhang now behind us.
French Certification is expected to be confirmed in January - according to the recent Akers Bioscience statement - Testing of the Company’s detectors by the national reference laboratory of France, Laboratoire National de Métrologie et d'Essais, has been proceeding for several months. Feedback on their assessment has so far been sufficiently positive for SONO to partially waive the conditions for payment of the licence fee. ABI has now received $550,000 of the $1 million licensing fee. The Company anticipates receiving the NF Mark in January 2013 which will trigger the payment of the remaining $450,000 of the licence fee. See below link http://www.akersbiosciences.com/investor/documents/12-11-12_ABI_Sono_RNS_Final.pdf There are 30 million French cars and approx 15 million foreign cars - the French govt recommend each car have two breathalyzers each. . Currently there are only two other breathalzyer companies who have passed the French standard and they are both small companies who are struggling to cope with demand. See below link http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://www.lexpress.fr/actualite/societe/les-fabricants-d-ethylotests-sont-sur-le-pied-de-guerre_1138168.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3DBreathScan%2BFrance%26start%3D30%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbo%3Dd%26rlz%3D1T4SUNA_enGB272GB272%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D588&sa=X&ei=E2mZULHpKsrQ0QXSiYDQAQ&ved=0CGoQ7gEwCTge . If Akers achieve this and there is no reason why they shouldnt as they are already Australian and US cleared their revenues could change significantly . Then there is the Chinese deal. And if disposable breathalyzers are rolled out across Europe , they will be well placed to capture a share of this market
Hi Pieman aka Yobaneeza......I reckon Coal of Africa is also a strong buy.
tip of the day looking good here also
Buyers are back investors are realizing the potential!
Does anyone know how long it takes for approval in China ?
should have said onwards and sideways ,atb.
