We've had 4 new products launched, don't tell anyone what they are or who they're with. That might be good for business and we'd need to wake up!
Chinese are looking to buy into the market. Business Secretary looking into a company in Wales who they fancy. Hopefully a good sign of things to come.
Business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has ordered a national security review of a takeover by a Chinese academic of a small Welsh manufacturer of graphene – the thinnest and lightest “super-material” known.
Graphene production is not yet a major industry, but it is considered to be of strategic importance by the UK government, according to Ron Mertens, editor of Graphene-Info, an industry publication.
“Graphene has a lot of potential in industry and it also has military applications,” said Mertens, citing body armour, tank armour and cooling systems in planes as possible uses. He added that one concern for the UK government could be the movement abroad of intellectual property in a fledgling industry.
China has taken a particular interest in graphene. Mertens said there were 10 separate research zones in China working on the material, with more than 200 companies working directly on the technology.

been 30p and below since June...needs to clear this silly up/down/up/down ...and get itself steady at mid 30's as nezlob says .....
Not moving that fast, but is slowly getting there I will be happy if can get past mid 30's.
Moves fast 30p on the ask today why the sudden move
"throw it at the wall and see what sticks"
Somewhat ironic turn of phrase!
Someone selling, someone buying. the only time there can be investment in a company is when someone pumps money in either through issuing new shares, profit from sales, inward capital from a third party company, or a loan.
Graphene is still a very new material and it's going to take several years yet for it to find a firm footing in industry. I expect AGM to go through additional fund raises before they establish any substantial commercial footprint.
Last two days there have been only sells, OK not a fortune but not encouraging.
We do need some potential investors here mrc!!
I have seen Pokerchips responses and he has good knowledge here and perhaps more faith than me in AGM.
They seem unashamed of their failure to realise practically no pipeline after selling the subscription on them.
They also seem unashamed to publish trading figures that are just appalling.
They do have a special product in graphene and a unique way of adding it. These things should stand them in good stead, if they are really trying and want to succeed rather than get an easy living from investors potential or actual.
Graphene looks like to be good in coatings and concrete and also batteries, all things that have future ingrained.
Thanks pokerchips, I’ll keep it on my watchlist.
I’m looking at a graphene co on crowdcube and AGMs name came up in the discussion there.
Have there been any forecasts made for sales / revenues?
no....I don't think that is realistically possible ..there are just "pipeline opportunities"
"I am struggling to understand what the size of the prize is"
who knows...you just lay out your stall and see who comes and buys....and go from there ...only thing worth looking at is the expected size of the market in the near future ...
"What are the companies ambitions."
Company I imagine are keeping realistic.....look for customers through key trade fairs and being known and recognised in their key industry/sector circles and work to break through in those markets.... don't over stretch from that....
As you say seems to be historically the graphene revolution in general has been slow.
Have there been any forecasts made for sales / revenues?
Seems they don’t expect to be profitable within the next 2 years given the recent fundraise and runway that provides. I guess I am struggling to understand what the size of the prize is. What are the companies ambitions.

I think originally you have to look at AGM as a science based R&D company...the development of graphene use being very much in its infancy ....they didn't set up with the knowledge and then look for what to do with it ....they and others have had to develop the knowledge and the IP over time....I don't think industry has been anywhere near ready to realise the potential of its use..... maybe that moment is now not so far away...their competitors seems very much in the belief the time has come and they seem more ready to take the opportunities opening up...
Car Wax I would imagine is just a simple example of the use of the graphene..almost just a stepping stone product....If you can demonstrate what the effect is by adding it to car wax..what is the potential by adding it into such coatings and protective type products ? The car wax is almost like handing out product samples
The problem now is....the team are more skilled in R&D and arguably comfortable receiving placing money to do that ....and the time may well be here where they need a new CEO who is more dynamic and with a sales related background that knows how to SELL and market the products uses to the end users , and can be more accountable for the commercialisation stage
Thank you pokerchips - I will do a bit more research.
One thing that did concern me a little is the vast number of applications they talk about. Maybe fair enough as the model is to work with others, but just seemed a little desperate. Throw it all at the wall and see what sticks.
Car wax I tend to think is a gimmick and certainly doesn’t seem to be a big revenue generator.
Coatings seem like a good one (based on the image of the commercial building roofing). If it can extend the life of assets then it will certainly be a winner. Do need to convince people to use it though. It can be tricky to change established procedures.
The revenue figure is not good for a company that is 10 years old.
Whether they end up being sold and someone else commercialising the IP and Patents , remains to be seen ...but that would be a reasonable outcome to bet on I think

hi...can I suggest that you look at the last Annual Report and maybe the latest Interim Report which will give you a better background on the company and BOD
https://www.appliedgraphenematerials.com/reports-and-presentations/
" There is a lot of talk in the presentation about expertise and nothing about sales of product."
YES..well that just about sums them up.... there are a lot of patents and IP ( where the company value is ) and plenty of opportunity pipelines and products for different industry uses ....but...the sales just have yet to break through .....
The issue has been that there has been a lot of time and money spent on the R&D and they are getting to the point now where the R&Ð costs are beginning to decline and the pipeline for the products is ready for commercialisation..which has been held back by the COVID Pandemic and subsequent industrial indecision on expenditures etc
They have the distribution networks and sales team...but...it is VERY, VERY slow going on the sales on any industrial client scale basis
They are fully capitalised with cash until 2023
The CEO and CFO have been there since late 2018 ..... Much debate on whether the CEO is the right guy to SELL what they have developed....
The placing RNS dated 26th Jan 2021 is worth a read with regards to the reasons for the fund raise ..e.g
" The Company has invested £24 million over the past decade into the development of manufacturing know-how of both GNPs, dispersion technology for nanomaterials and application data. As a result, the Company has developed a standard set of dispersed graphene products which provides a platform for growth in product sales. The Directors anticipate opportunities for applications in areas including aerospace, marine, satellite, wind turbine, infrastructure and transportation, and expect ongoing developments to further broaden this range. "
Whther they end up being sold and someone else commercialising the IP
Hello all,
I’ve made it through the latest presentation (thoroughly boring), and just have a few questions. My usual interest and knowledge is in oil and gas so apologies if these are stupid questions.
Is this business based on selling high volumes of graphene? If yes then do they have a product that has some IP that gives them a competitive edge?
Or is it a consultancy for companies that want to incorporate graphene into their products? There is a lot of talk in the presentation about expertise and nothing about sales of product. Do AGM get a piece of the end product sales?
I can see that the historical SP is on a downward trajectory with a large number of discounted placings. Anyone provide a quick history lesson on why the SP has been declining over the last 10 years? Has the R&D and customer adoption been slower than expected? Management issues?
What is the game changer? Volume sales? Regulator approvals?

good find.......wow ... (drum roll) .....£47,500...every little helps.....

Hi nezlob,
News here from Versarien.... I am just wondering whether the commercial use of graphene is beginning to get closer....the developments always had to come well before that of course .... but..are we finally getting closer to the industries now taking it seriously as a component ?
------------------------------------------
“The graphene prospects in both the UK and abroad are extremely exciting with our transitioning from laboratory to real-world demonstrators in multiple sectors including defence, automotive, aerospace and construction; in particular, interest in using our graphene in large infrastructure projects and in textiles.
https://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/956923/versarien-excited-by-graphene-prospects-across-multiple-sectors-956923.html
Interesting use for graphene Pokechips and well posted.
However I cannot find any mention of concrete in AGM website and newsletters, could be there as it is hard tosearch.
Also the technology involved in putting the graphene into the mix may not benefi from the nano particales or platelets, GNP as they are referred to on AGM writes.
Versarien look to be into this HS2 concrete thing, do they have similar tech to GNP, don't know myself and no time to check!
I am still underwhelmed with AGM, despite the recent rise, which has stalled at least for now there has been no concrete news (pun just fell in place, not intended).
AGM seem to be concentrating on coatings and other corrsion protection and detailing, neither that lucratively at the moment.
No pipeline business actually confirmed, over 100 opportunities and none realised in 6 months?
I sold the little tranche I bought at 26.5 for 30.5 and am glad I did though I was uncertain.
Still have my residual which I hope to sell and get money back at 38-40p
.
HS2 to spearhead use of graphene-reinforced concrete
"Microscopic strands of graphene only several atoms thick will run through the concrete like stripes in a stick of rock to replace traditional steel."

Is this the kind of "composite engineering" stuff that AGM has talked about ??
Applied Graphene Materials (LSE:AGM), the producer of specialty graphene nanoplatelet dispersions, has launched a ground-breaking new range of eco-friendly graphene nanoplatelet dispersions that will enable paints, coatings and composite materials customers to improve the sustainability of their product formulations in response to growing market pressures.

well done to those that held on, hopefully this will start moving !
