....9.42% today. Not bad.
....
...rise so far today. Long may it continue!
nice finish,nice buy just gone thro,at 100p
Reiterate buy recommendation with a target of 200p, for what that's worth. Interesting that this peaked at 188p in March 2014 at a time of rising revenues but declining profits. If they can show increasing revenues AND profits, and the indications seem to be there that this is achievable, then this should rise nicely despite the pension issue IMHO. DYOR and all that.
...16% up this morning. Feeling a bit happier now!
Sp not so!
Just what the doctor ordered. Nice positive AGM statement this morning is lifting the so a bit.
Was not great. Well down on paper at the moment. However, we only need a bit of good news on this to see the share price start to recover IMO. Just wish I had waited a little longer to get back in!
Someone is stocking up here x
looking good here, the charts turning in aga's faviour.imo.
Yeah me too great product s but pension is a big problem that not going to be storted anytime soon few companies ie uk coal has gone under with pensions problems
I agree that the pension scheme/deficit is a major headache, but the £10m a year figure is what would apply from 2016 if the currently agreed deficit reduction plan were to continue. The triennial review is underway and that could lead to a change in that plan. There is no merit in the pension trustees killing the golden goose by ignoring the interests of other stakeholders, including shareholders, and whilst I may be wrong, I am hoping that the references in the final results to achieving the right balance could lead to a more equitable arrangement in circumstances where trading and profits are improving. Also, the deficit seems to be calculated on a basis which doesn't accurately reflect the fund's actual performance. So, you have a situation where fund performance exceeds liabilities and yet the technical deficit is increasing because of the low prices of gilts and bonds. This is also something which might be addressed in the review. I am no expert in pension scheme valuation etc, but it seems to me that the pension scheme/deficit may be addressed in a way which leaves more room for a dividend in the future, and a recovery in the share price. That's what I am hoping anyway!
The one thing stopping me from investing I'd the massive drain the pension scheme is causing. 10 million a year.
J O Hambro Capital Management have upped their stake to 11.47%
To this share after a long absence. I have always liked this brand and think it has potential. Price looks to me as if it has turned the corner. Lots of good prospects I feel, including China and the range of new products. Only downside for me is the increased pension deficit but, reading between the lines, it sounds to me that this rather technical calculation will be revised favourably as trading and prospects improve. Final results announcement due on 6th March. Recent upbeat trading announcements suggest these should be good and give the share price a boost. No dividend in prospect while there is a large pension deficit, but I would hope for decent share price growth from the current level.
So, the magic 100p has been passed and it's all hovering. The FTSE is going up as is DAX and CAC. China hasn't defaulted on anything and is still the one to watch. So WHY are AGA shares worth 1/2 what they were a year ago with an 85% drop over the last 8 years??? Any thoughts? What about the future? Perhaps its time to get a BarBQ instead.
Any thoughts why the continued drop?
Sorry forgot to say good luck , just read your post on qpp he he I feel the same :-)
Thank you TIMMO , I have not taken a lot of notice of my aga investment as they are usually quite steady, I am so surprised to see such a fall without any news . :-(
no idea what's up... I decided to check today out with a good profit - but will keep an eye on this one. Good luck to you.
Hello is their anyone out there !!! Why the sudden slide ?
Anyone know what has happened today !!
Hi john Gould I do agree with your thoughts on Chinese cooking , however the Chinese do love anything western and they are learning how to bake and are I believe becoming more interested in western foods. A close friend of mine has just bought the new electric aga it is far better than the old ones, you can use the ovens as and when you want to cook, it is no longer like a convector heater , far more like a conventional cooker.
There is an article on the AGA website which is worth a read. They are working with Vatti a leading Chinese supplier to distribute AGA products in China. There is a thought that there is a market for western style ovens in China and their joint task there is to help build up the market to show the AGA products suitability for Chinese cooking ,lead by the AGA TC cooker.
