AFC are completely dependent on De Nora for the electrodes but that shouldn’t mean we don’t have control over our future, without knowing what deal there will eventually be between the two companies it would all be speculation
Thanks Bristoldan for sharing the link. I agree with everything in that report as that has been my reasoning for attacking AFC in the past. The first paragraph is key, if we get a sale this becomes a convincing buy, looking at the monthly chart I’d say people are now buying in with the belief that it’s really going to happen this time. We’ve certainly never had so many social media posts issued before to drum up interest.
Quite often on aim, shares are forward sold. That was my point.
That was my take on the statement also Heath
Could that have meant that our destiny is not so much in the hands of DeNora alone but is dependent on the wider demand for renewable power over fossil fuels?
I think we are on the same page Junior.
Cheers
For anyone else who couldn't see the link

Been on twitter since 2010 with 552 followers. Not quite a blue tick account!
It just looks like a not so subtle hatchet job to me and presumably there is a reason why it has been written now. Personally, it encourages me as when the sharks start circling around it suggests that there is something of interest nearby. The only question is what and my money is on something worth fighting for that is too big for the sharks to attack! They can only nibble.
As others have said, a lot more could have been written about the various products and about the potential for the future, rather than looking at the past, but quite frankly it is not worth the effort to provide a reasoned response. I have never heard of this pundit before and I certainly won't be consulting them for advice in the future!
Athansius, very well put. Put it into perspective for me certainly.
athansius, couldn't agree more.
We need a little more patience now more than ever and I've been here before mr bond.
Junior, it is all very well that they pulled out agreements as far back as Centrica, but the company is a different company now than it was then. The history may well explain why the MCap is still where it is but what is the point of this history lesson. If you want to try to predict where the SP is going you need to look forward, and that includes Alkamem and the solid fuel cell. Alkamem has already been supplied to third parties and a firm commercial order could come at any time....it might beat EV charging, Similarly the vehicles that will require solid fuel cells in 2022 and beyond are being envisaged and designed right now. The house broker itself has said that it is reviewing its target price based on the news re gensets.
So I stand by my view that the article is valueless for anyone wanting a summary of where AFC is. It is history lesson, and one which we know already.
Well Acciona are sharing the costs of the field trial so I expect this will be a contribution towards the cost of manufacture or it is unlikely to be an equal share. N
Banaman, "
To this end, the net proceeds of the Subscription are expected to contribute towards the manufacture of AFC Energy's largest EV charger unit with a nameplate of 160kW to support demonstration and commercial activity in 2020"
From the January RNS. It says contribute but there was also the Covid raise to bolster the finances. I would like to see why a further raise would be needed but the the wording is wooly.
Cmon klunk, how many weeks? Be fair chap!
Couldn't agree more blueboy, it was pretty spot on! Story of I offend
I don’t think the market would suffer another round of funding for R&D trials. The funding received last time was for building the product. Any more R&D should come from profits of the saleable products.
A shame she couldn t wait a few weeks ....may have been able to write a more positive story ....
I've read the article twice.
It does not mention the potential for gen set replacement (other than to note the announcement this week in passing). It does not mention Alkamem. It does not mention the potential applications of the solid fuel cell. it does not mention air quality. In fact all it says is that AFC has been around a bit and hasn't sold anything yet.
I think those of us on this board could have told him that!
A narrow and poorly researched article with little comprehension of AFC.
Yeah, read the article. Can't disagree. Fantastic product just need to move from trail and testing to sales. The review is right. I was a share holder when the centrica deal was announced. Nothing materialised. We also had Link Energy which died a death. I believe MOU with Waitrose in there somewhere. Ineos, air products etc etc etc. Nothing commercial has come yet.
I disagree that focus will go away from electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure. Sales are down but have remained level for EV's. This should remain a focus and business like AFC should be celebrated for their achievements. Perhaps not receiving direct funding but subsidies should remain for EV's in some form whilst EV charging will remain essential to allow ease of travel from A to B without the stress of recharging. Years ago it was LPG tanks being fitted to cars. This took planning to ensure you could find a fill up point. It can't happen to EVs if there is going to be a sustained change.
