Yes VV I was looking at POLY not so long ago at £7 ish but didn’t do anything about it. I was attracted by the gold production and the fact that it pays a dividend. I think I was put off at the time as Russia was in the news for all the wrong reasons and I was expecting sanctions and of course Kazakhstan is pretty much a law unto itself - but looking around at other gold producing areas I probably scared myself off wrongly - certainly if you look at the rise in the SP since then. I think it is a firm favourite for FTSE 100 which as you point out is only good news. I think I missed the boat with that one and with today’s drop in FRES I took the opportunity to buy in there - for better or worse that seems to be my modus operandi. At the end of the day I think the important thing in this market is to protect your capital and I think both companies tick that box.
Gold is up knocking on 1450 and MB wants to pay peanuts for ACA shareholders.
Big joker imo....
Dyor MB !
No chance and I with others will fund what it take to defend our valuable interests.
If ends in Arbitration ...so be it..
Will see how fair fair you are tomorrow though I am not holding my breath!
Cheers Super. Lithium ion tech that Mr Musk is involved in has greater energy density than Vanadium based batteries and makes it the preferred choice for devices and vehicles. However it suffers as we know from severe degredation over time (fairly useless after a few years) and can overheat/catch fire. It isnt really scalable to store large amounts of energy safely and economically. Vanadium
batteries are by all accounts. Energy storage connected to renewable sources is the next big thing. So this company as a low cost primary producer is in with a good shout.
Btw With gold at $1446 tonight and decision day tomorrow, im cautiously optimistic about ACA bouncing further in the morning.
Thanks VV I have had a read through of BMN - I never do well on AIM so not one for me at the moment but I will put it on my watchlist - best of luck with it though.
This should help us tomorrow -good timing for the rise, good luck.
Not sure what is fueling the sudden jump unless it is because the US Navy have shot down an Iranian Drone it was felt was attacking a US war ship?
Fres production is approx 1.5m gold equiv ozs. So is Polymetal btw. Difference is that fres is on a p/e of 20 compared to 15 for POLY.
Imho there is therefore better value in Poly as added to the story they are close to promotion to the ftse100 which will further close the pe gap.
I saw a Bloomberg article on Elon Musk and they said he actually had no intention to keep making cars, his intention is once the other big car manufacturers come in to concentrate only on making batteries for his and the other car manufacturers. So someone who knew him well said his long term goal was to become a battery manufacturer to all, however the Company you have found does look a good punt as they have fallen from say 49p to less than half. Well spotted.
Evening Bb, Bushveld is BMN on AIM.
Very active board here on LSE too.
Lots to read. Bushveld are going to use their expanding primary production of Vanadium to provide electrolyte to their own power storage arm. Vanadium battery storage could be huge. Vanadium batteries can store 100s of MWh with no risk of over heating, and crucially no memory effect/ degradation in total contrast to lithium/ion. Good for 30 years and then the vanadium in the electrolyte will still have value. They will be ideal for local storage from solar installations for example.
BMN price has been held back by the declining price of Vanadium of the last few months but this is seems to be only a pull back from huge gains last year. Worthy of serious consideration I think.
Yes fingers crossed for a fair offer we can all accept.
VV what’s the code for Bushveld - which market?
Barrick and gold continue to forge ahead this evening. 0.153 offer now worth £2.08.
I dont believe that this time that they will extend and I do think a formal offer slightly in excess of the 0.153 will be tabled.
Its clear to me that the intervention of the GoT, potentially shutting down NM, has been timed to put off any counter bid (Barrick very aware no doubt of the push me pull you aspect of the situation as BB points out.)
Good to All tomorrow as you say Super.
Selfishly I would like a decent offer soon as I dont want to miss the boat with Bushveld Minerals as Vanadium battery storage technology takes off.!
All set up for tomorrow chaps. Best of luck.
Actually fortune favours the brave bought 6000 dimi - just seems to cheap with stable gold and rising silver - ATB
Tempted myself dimi Down 81p but I think I have enough exposure to gold for this week anyway. Does seem like a good price though......
BB, yes I saw that. Luckily I sold half of my FRES position few weeks ago to lock some profits! I'm planning on buying back some of those shares, perhaps even later today. As Super says, these things keep going up and down, have to surf them like waves in Newquay!
They are up about 20% in a few weeks and still rising. They are now the Uk's largest brewer!! Export abroad and so their beer will be cheaper for our International foreign drinkers.
Obviously doing very well in the hot weather. Could be a good place to put your Aca profits!!!
All doing. very, very well to be honest -happy Days.
Aca should be as you say moving up in value but MB is not someone who takes a beating lightly -so be prepared for him trying to be clever- it is in his nature. The only thing stopping him is JT- perhaps he can take him into the Headmaster's study for a lecture on his three month appraisal as I am NOT sure he has made all of his objectives and his bonus must be in question!! Maybe he would be safer travelling back to Jersey fishing, rather than hunting down Rhino Horn, HA,HA..
Interesting to note that FRES suffering today on slightly lower production figures and concerns over future government policy - this despite lift in silver price - no one has it easy.
I can imagine that one. I bet Bristow is all bluster and passion selling the deal and Odey totally non-plus! Worst worst case if this goes the wrong way over the next few days, Barrick isn't going to watch 64% of their ownership turn to toilet water and the GOT aren't going to kill the golden goose long term either. I'm 100% sure that eventually sense will prevail and all round fair play is the only way out.
Yes Frankly, I too am hoping that the suspension of arbitration is for a good reason. I personally hope that ACA stay firm on the deadline and I would not be unhappy if Odey and Fidelity were involved in the actual discussion process/meetings they hold the key to this and will not be afraid of some straight talking - love to see a picture of Bristow and Odey facing off!
Hi BB! I better say something positive and just had a good thought. ACA wouldn't suspend arbitration without consulting the shareholders and the shareholders wouldn't agree to it, if they thought conversations with Barrick weren't progressing. Of course ACA can't say "hey everyone we think we'll get a decent offer from Barrick so we'll suspend arbitration" Better to suggest that its between Barrick and GOT than give the game away!;-)) Makes sense to me.
Ha! You have a cracker Pat. It's only money!!-)...us lot need to think about the next wave to ride and make up for any shortcoming with ACA. Personally taking a sneaky peek at William Hill. Pretty sure they are going to get bought out on the next 12 months and I think they look cheap in the LT. Anyway I digress. Let's sit tight on this Gold Mine malarkey. It would actually make a bloody good mini series on the box!
Franky welcome to the glass half empty club .. I’m just about to board my flight to Newquay .. I don’t think my glass will be half empty for long this weekend.. Mess dinner at RNAS culdrose then weekend drinking .. I couldn’t face the 6 hour drive home after drinking hence the flight
Depends if ACA act quickly this time to lay off staff and enter into care and maintenance - spend nothing they do not have to a fight back hard.
I think now that we suspended arbitration we are the ones that blinked first and are in the position of weakness. Anyway am only guessing with any of this now. If we get an offer it ll be after hours Friday. I just think we ll get another extension and with the mine shut for 2 weeks the SP will slide and Barrick will stiff us. I hope to God not but nothing here feels like a happy ending.
How long is any cash pile going to last when NM is shut down as of Saturday!! Not long methinks.
