Well I was hoping for a better reaction to today’s update but happy to see it past the new year. Think when we will see a rise through Xmas / new year up to next trading statement. Maybe some real numbers oppose to percentages will make it climb.
Back to £2 today, I'll bet!
Excellent overall I think everyone can be happy with the update. We knew retail would fall, and all other areas are in growth particularly the US. Good growth stock for the next few years.
Thanks gewillia, I understand now, i’ll also look back at some of the others for practice too. Really appreciate the reply.
Ok, no actual figures, only %’s, “ The US business continues to deliver on its retail and mobile strategy to be a US market leader, generating strong growth with net revenue increasing +60% (+53% on a local currency basis). US Expansion net revenue tripled, driven by the opening of new states, while our Nevada business remains strong, generating 27% growth (+22% on a local currency basis).”
While percentages show growth they mean nothing in terms of actual income/profit unless you have baseline figures to apply it to e.g $3 + 60% = $4.8!
I know it’s just an update but a bit more meat on the bones would be good.
Phy510' had to work today. Gewillia thanks for doing the detailed reply.
OK phy510, Here's your answer; Go to Para 7 in TR-1. You'll see two lines of numbers and three columns. The top line refers to "Resulting situation . . ." That means the position today. The bottom line refers to "Position of previous notifications . . ." This means the old position before the trades now being disclosed.
The third column of 7 refers to Para. 8c, is the addition of the percentages shown in columns 8a and 8b of Para.8, just beneath 7. It discloses the total position of Morgan Stanley. The top line is the total new position 5.49%. The bottom line is the total old position 5.57%. Because the new position is smaller than the old, MS now have a smaller total holding and are therefore net sellers. 8a incidentally is MS's positions in shares they hold directly. 8b is their holdings of any derivatives, (Options, contracts for difference, equity swaps, etc.) that give them some control over more underlying shares.
So you don't really need to bother with all the other numbers cluttering up the form in Para 8, 8a, 8b1 and 8b2, unless you're a quant. Para. 7 will tell you most everything you ever need to know.
Hey morbox, can you explain which piece of data in the latest RNS tells you whether Morgan Stanley have bought or sold shares. It’s all in percentages and I’m not confident in fully understanding it. Any ideas?
Hope so, I know this won't effect anything but a news item yesterday said that their Vegas online system had an outage over the weekend needed to give $25.00 bonus bets to users. They do need to make sure they have flexible but robust IT systems.
Also hopefully the update will have some indication on how the US arm is doing not just a high level overview.
One day to go to get your winning tickets. WH definitely worth more than today’s SP with both UK And US markets. 230 by year end.
