Continual drop is a real surprise to me. Sales dropped 2.1% and share price dropped c. 15% since. BT sales dropped over 8% and share price has gone up lver 80%. I dumped all my BT shares at £2.053 pence to put into vod. Vod's drop is completely irrational - pays a dividend of 7.5% and BT pays 0%. Vodafone a far better investment.
Nice one fleccy lol
"Perhaps Santa will cum down my chimney??"
That would leave him in a sticky spot, and possibly a mention on a certain register.
Holla amigo dan, not sure about wilco, possibly home bargains, just think of this, if they drop any lower, we can get them at a better price than mikey ;-))
robleo. They're not selling cut price price vod shares at Wilcos are they?
robleo. £2 by X.mas, that will do me. Perhaps Santa will cum down my chimney?? (that's Latin you know).
Hello sidi. 1st off , I think we should all have a spelling amnesty, as long as we understand what is being said. As for cum, which I did google, my point is, why talk in latin, which I didn't understand, when you can talk in plain English. Never mind, I prefer Spanish though, so holla Amigo's. But a plummeting vod share price is the same in any language, nine gute, not good, oh ****e! I don't know what it is in latin. (Maximus Crappes)? I gave that up many years ago when even the catholic church gave up on it. Good luck though my friend (Amigo) We sure need it.
I would be careful about selling up here, and buying another stock at the moment, you could end up with a double loss, if the new share goes down, not so many bargain buys around as there was 6 months ago, just my opinion
Fleccy: 'How do you know what's better? I've previously sold stock stagnating around a price, and invested in "something better", only to see my previous stock take off and my new investment go down; In fact it happened so rapidly, after I moved stocks, it felt personal. Since there's no surety in investing, everyone should do their own research and carefully weigh up any investment decisions.'
Well said and so true. Anyone who has long practical experience of stock market, would confirm what you said. :)
To buy and sell shares, cost money. that could be few percentage points. 1 % goes to govt in taxes (0.5 % when one bought a share and 0.5 % when shares are switched to another share). It means, overall tax for switching shares is 1 % in govt tax. Plus, stock broker commission and price spread.
No strategy has guaranteed success, but lot of research, foreseeing/analysing impact of world economic situation & foreseeing/analysing impact of local situation on particular company helps.
Best strategy in my opinion (not necessary that all would agree): When purchasing shares, one should know what investment shares one is committing, what is expected value of shares in eye of purchaser and what is the prospect of company in distance future.
Then stick with the shares one have until one thinks that company shares are over valued (maybe 10 % overvalued from expected value) and there is some other undervalued share available (maybe 20% undervalued from expected value), then only one thinks of switching shares. [That is my opinion]
"It's never too late to sell SIDI, if you decide there is somewhere better for your funds. Don't fall the 'not a loss till you sell' dillusion."
Ok, a couple of things, you can either use illusion, or delusion, not both lol.
Dissecting your post, how do you know what's better? I've previously sold stock stagnating around a price, and invested in "something better", only to see my previous stock take off and my new investment go down; In fact it happened so rapidly, after I moved stocks, it felt personal. Since there's no surety in investing, everyone should do their own research and carefully weigh up any investment decisions. Selling at a loss does convert a virtual loss into a paper loss, same as selling at a profit is a capital gain, HMRC will confirm that.
Thanks for your advice mole_man, most appreciated....
It's never too late to sell SIDI, if you decide there is somewhere better for your funds. Don't fall the 'not a loss till you sell' dillusion.
I wish you could edit post here, after I've posted, I think oh god, did I really spell those words like that ?, I blame my faulty keyboard lol
....'to' sell....... another mistyped.....oh my, what's the matter with me??!!....
Well robleo, it's a bit late sell anyway. Better stay put and wait for the recovery now........
Wiscos well that's one meaning for it lol
Yes Wiscos, that's right...
sidi good evening, I cant comment on that tonight, as I'm in positive thinking mode lol, I don't know about you, but I don't like selling anything off at a loss, as long as I can see there's a hope of recovery, and it is providing some income in the meantime
so lets hope it can get past that 140 blockade some time soon
Dan thinks it will be £2 by xmas, only joking of course
best of luck guys
Cum means with. Ex means without. Elementary Latin. I knew it would come in handy...
Good evening friends. Good to hear that you are staying so positive robleo but to tell the truth. I am kind of losing heart seeing the SP eroded day after day. Now it's a far cry from 142p not so long ago......oh dear me.
Oh Dan, cum dividend is an official word. In the old days I used to see this term very often when buying a share about to go ex-divi. The contract note from my broker would add cum dividend next to the price I paid. You can Google it. Try to type 'cum dividend meaning' and search. You will see the definition.
Good evening all, well 5 p down, not bad, it could have 10p, will be back to 140 before we know it, well i did say i would be back in positive mode today lol, let's hope it starts to go up again now
All the best, lot's of rude words on here today
As i said ,very strange word, I would have said pre dividend, Let's face it s.i.d.i. some of these words are complete nonsense. In plain English it's pre divi. Simple? Cum on mate?
Dan, so you didn't know what is cum dividend? I thought you were joking, lol. Yes, cum dividend opposite is ex-dividend.
Cum dividend = include dividend
Ex-dividend = dividend deducted
Thank's s.i.d.i. I have never heard of cum divi before (strange word) but it means with the divi, so thank's mate. I just thought you had made a typo, As for todays terrible finish, what can I say? Bye the way, how do trades work before the market opens? Who is trading with who? Cum on mate?
Lol Dan, you were joking, right? Cum dividend means includes dividend.....ex-divi only started from 8:00 am. Those two trades were struck at 7:16am. Therefore they were before going ex-divi....
