Trmr rns today is about Vidaa, which is installed in Hisense CTVs.
Given US warnings about Huawei because of their aversion towards Chinese smart devices because of the possibility of listening in by the Chinese authorities, why would US people by Hisense CTV, a company owned by the Chinese state? And US are trmr's biggest market.
Hisense have sold only 20m CTVs worldwide, which is nothing
I, for one, would never buy a Hisense CTV because it is a Chinese state owned company.

"The impact from losing Alphonso isn't known yet."
No, because is not an issue or they would have said.
Where have you been! I missed your daily microdose of c... lol
SNN,
LG (alphonso) is a significant CTV maker. To lose a significant CTV maker can restrict their potential for years to come. Look what happened to Rthm(now trmr) when they took their partner DataXu to court. Rthm sp crashed and were soon taken over by TAP, to form TRMR.
Whereas Rubicon, now Magnite, resolved their dispute with the Guardian amicably. Look where Trmr are and look where Magnite are...

"Smart search function
VIDAA 4 allows you to find what you want to watch with ease thanks to its universal search functionality, while its intelligent interface will also learn your viewing habits and offer suggestions from the main interface. The more you watch, the more your TV will learn and the better your content will become. "

All pretty standard stuff really for modern Smart TVs. You are all aware of the news from Sky? (re their Glass TVs)
https://www.sky.com/glass - owned by Comcast who own the massive SSP FreeWheel. I think Comcast are launching a TV set as well in the States. All attempts at forming walled gardens - if you want to advertise on our TV set you have to use our DSP and if you want to advertise in our programmes you have to use our SSP. Advertisers prefer the open internet.

The impact from losing Alphonso isn't known yet.
When they renewed the Alphonso partnership they stated it was an important step ...in the coming years...
"The renewal of the partnership is an important step towards enhancing our leadership in television retargeting in the coming years."

Yet again, for this morning's rns also states important milestone...everything is an important milestone until the deal fails then it's wasn't important!!!
""This is an important milestone in Tremor International's trajectory as a leader in CTV and video, and underscores an important pillar in our strategy. "

Further they refer to 'Vidaa', the os used. It reminds me of the agreements signed by Blnx for Tizen os, used by Samsung, which was supposed to propel blnx. What happened there???

Thanks for the replies, folks.

Alphonso is basically Smart TV tracking software. Magnite announced they have partnered with Samba (a competitor)
"It can be a cutthroat business. Samba has sued Alphonso for patent infringement. Last year, Vizio paid $2.2 million to settle claims by the Federal Trade Commission and the state of New Jersey that it was collecting and selling viewing data from millions of smart TVs without the knowledge or consent of set owners. In December, The New York Times reported that Alphonso was using gaming apps to gain access to smartphone microphones and listen for audio signals in TV ads and shows."

Tremor, being unique in having a full stack, including a full data management platform, is bringing more of the data side in house. The plan being to be more efficient, to be more profitable for Tremor (its profit margins are bigger) and better for customers - should be cheaper and they are optimizing the supply path - less companies sat in the middle between advertiser and publisher, all wanting a cut of advertisers' budgets. Parts of adtech are a dirty business - parts that Tremor is not willing to engage in.
See previous post re 1st Q results - Tremor's growth rate is the highest in the sector and it has the highest margins. Its model is unique - hence, my distaste of the word peer. The last peer I saw was on a trip to Blackpool.
Not sure how ordinary CTV users are offered the choice of using ACR or not but when DPSs partner with automatic content recognition technology providers, advertisers receive a unique opportunity to intelligently target the most valuable audiences without investing anything extra.
If the audience benefits then it seems a win-win situation.
Or is it all a little Orwellian - with 'Big Brother' watching us?
Yes. eg if you are referring to stuff like Samba - see here

My router also lets me disable this sort of thing - log directly into your router and go into settings.
Content recognition ('ACR') data pre installed on tvs....is this switch on and offable? any boffins care to explain, please.
