"Power Transmission
ZISMO Engineering has an excellent Power Transmission and distribution department that services a variety of clients . The services include the following:
construction and refurbishment of high voltage and low voltage overheard Lines
design and building of indoor and outdoor substations
Testing and commissioning of powerstations"
Their main activity does seem to be in machines!
I'm sorry, but surely the RNS has mixed up the two companies? Each one seems better suited to the other ones duties imho.
Think it makes sense now!
If 1101GWh is 100% requirement and they imported 28% of that!
That produces a price of 24.3c per KWh which computes very well!
With diesel up to 30c per KWh our minimum price of 13c looks to be highly negotiable.
Good stuff! I'm happy! Now off to see if Zismo is run by a man called Justice or whether he is a Justice of the peace :O)
Optipower look well suited to putting up the transmission lines, if there web site is anything to go by. I wonder if Zismo have the edge on getting started because they are based in Botswana and maybe have more freedom within a lockdown.
I am disappointed at the price paid for those imports i.e. 1101GWh for $75m.
I was expecting something like 30c per KWh which would give us plenty of room to negotiate on price but the numbers do not compute!
I make it 6.8c per KWh , so half our price and a quarter of the cost of diesel power?
How much is available at that price is another question , Eskom probably produced the above and I doubt they are in position to supply any at all until they sort out their current mess.
These awards will broaden our exposure, the companies involved will be sharing their good news as much as they can.
Well there’s some progress finally and hope this will start very very soon.. need to know the plan to get the excess water out of the CBM. News on Funding surely should be coming soon too... Come On TG “let’s go” .........
Let’s hope work starts soon!
Didn't they say early Q2 for the tender awards? Oh look!
'Tender Award
Tenders have been awarded to Zismo Engineering (Pty) Ltd (“Zismo”) for the construction of the
overhead lines and to OptiPower for construction of substations at Lesedi and Serowe. The Company
looks forward to finalising the contracts with both groups and subsequent commencement of
construction.
? Zismo is a Botswana based Electrical Engineering, Contracting, Automation and Refurbishment

There you go again Mr Smith - telling everybody what somebody else thinks. That is another skill to add to your impressive cv.
This is all we need .....

How long will that take? I'd like us to meet the contractors before signing up unknowns who might be good or bad.
An interview with GG would be welcome IF he is running things in Botswana? The last thing I want is for TG to risk covid!!
I do think we will make some progress soon, but we will not be selling into the grid this year!
If we say a year maybe less to install poles and wires, when they finally get the funding facility (if ever) they can build the substation concurrently with the poles and wires. I’d have a guess at q4 2022 for us to be ready IMO!
But knowing tlou you also have to factor in that they miss every single deadline that they set for themselves, so maybe 2023 as a back up date, just to be safe! IMO
Correct Whizzer — no chance of injecting 2MW into the grid in 2021. And I wouldn’t bet a lot on it being injected in 2022 either. But let’s see what progress they make in 2021.
Talking litres 500ml bottle of Directors were on offer at my local Asda.
It was my favourite pint but haven't had one for many years.
It is the top 10% of Courage Best scooped up according to a landlord on the Isle of Wight.
And the price? 91p!
Whizzer, I did not expect 2MW to be arriving in Serowe this year, but for there to be enough gas to power that size of generator. The map on the second link earlier shows a "gas plant" , is that where the Selemo generator is, and where the Lesedi generators will be? Is it ready to take more? And did Tlou expand the early Selemo generation as mentioned in the first link.
I expect it to be difficult to find online because I think I'd remember if it had been announced.
50k litres not barrels unless they are miniatures :O)
Selemo produced power by June 22nd 2016 once TLOU redirected the gas to a generator rather than a flare.
https://knowledge.energyinst.org/search/record?id=108364 is quite concise, and confirms my saving of 50k barrels of diesel that I knew I'd read and heard, but where?
This link has info on the previous stage and is another good read. You'll see why their optimism on dewatering at Lesedi was well founded, but misplaced with unexpected water and covid stopping them in their tracks.
After lockdown they'll be able to replicate their actions at Selemo this is dated 25th February 2016!
Same year but I don't know how current progress compares with Selemo's progress at that date.

Brad I can tell you now that tlou won’t be producing 2mw this year!
They would need a small miracle for that to happen!
Firstly the bod would have to give us the news on the contractors for a start! That seems a way off for some reason still!
Pubs are open again - expect more abuse from the Donkey and filter him now.
Whizzer, if TG had told us a while back that we'd be producing 100MW by today , would your posts be any different to what you are saying now, if he was only producing 50MW? I guess we'll know the truth if we produce 2MW this year of the 10MW we were originally targetting. MW is from a keyboard where the shift lock works for more than one character.
Anybody with an IPhone know how set shift-lock so it survives after character 1 ???
Looked it up if you don't - a 3yr old might haveguessed this, I've only tried tried holding it for a few seconds.
What turns blue?
"How do you lock capital letters on iPhone?
When you tap the shift button (up arrow at the left side of the screen) on the keyboard it will act as a normal shift and make one letter caps. For caps lock, double tap the shift button and it will turn blue. Everything you type will be caps until you turn off caps lock by tapping the shift button once more."
Solar energy? My posts were about what some jumped up idiot posted this morning - like my son's first week at school joke - remember it? He was taught to write anything, novels, obituaries, letters etc but when asked what he'd written I got the reply "How do I know they haven't taught me to read yet!"
Sonny, you should read what you cut and paste before commenting like a buffoon.
"Botswana has a huge potential to produce and export solar energy. The post-pandemic recovery will be an opportunity to invest in this untapped potential and to work for a greener future and create good jobs for the nation’s youth."
That is a half-cut Donk! posted not long ago.
The depth and breath of your knowledge and ability to converse on any chosen subject is truly astounding Mr Smith. You always manage to cover a variety of topics in every answer. I genuinely look forward to the day I can post here you actually posted something central to the point of the topics raised here.
WHIZZER, the board are shareholders too!
Just heard a question on Jeremy Vine - which of these places outside London are posted on Instagram most?
1.Cornwall
2. Lake District
3. Yorkshire
And that question told me exactly why Solar is unwanted in Southern Africa!
Tourism! Millions go there to see the wilds, animals and places! They go to escape seeing wind farms and solar energy fields!
To get the sun, solar panels cannot be hidden in trees and out of sight valleys - they need as much sun as they can get, and they'll be vast, difficult to protect from vandals and animals but a huge eyesore!
Th answer was 3. Yorkshire, the Maasai Mara of England
It’s no secret that the tlou bod have fallen way short of fulfilling the early promise here! It’s been a disaster!
And they continue to drag this process out longer still!
What was it end of q1 for funding to be sorted?
The return for shareholders has been appalling!

3 posts on two shares, all very negative. Anything positive to say about recent news and developments here?
Yesterday the EU Delegation to Botswana & SADC hosted a highly successful webinar on Team Europe financing instruments of interest to expand sustainable energy in Botswana.
More than 100 people tuned in to hear about the offerings of EU-based development finance institutions, including the European Investment Bank, Agence française de développement and COFIDES. In addition, there was ATI, ElectriFI, Facility for Energy Inclusion and Climate Investor One, which are also backed by the EU. Participants came from the private sector, Botswana officials, development partners, the diplomatic community, the financial sector and academia.
