Lol whatever.
what I was alluding to Scinv Prof Horby in attempt to find the cheap and cheerful drug was a diversion away from following the science which was known as far back as you know from your research done in China in 2019 on interferons in respiratory disease and years before that in the UK. I could see the potential why couldn't he , a research scientist he could at least offered voiced greater support instead of being churlish but as you said science has never been the issue but it is the reason why I am invested here keeping faith but patience being tested - now that's an issue ! ATB
Horby's tweet says SNG were the ones who wanted to go alone and Willkinson is not on BOD so I assume he just did not know what happened
Wilkinsonâs tweet about being surprised at not being included in recovery trial tells you all you need to know about what went on with sng
No one would support a therapeutic that isn't available or take on the cost of development only to be sold back to them at inflated prices and start producing after approval. Remdesivir was an exception (and a scandal imo) in terms of efficacy and approval as it was such the climate then they needed something to tout (and Fauci had the hots for it) but they still had some quantity ready to go otherwise that wouldn't have gotten authorisation back in 2020 either.
The issue isn't with the science though, it never was.
One year on the science supporting our therapeutic is now overwhelming
Or rather, the last 12 nonths.
*not just the recovery
And it was just the recovery, remap cap etc were supported by govs, name one therapeutics company that wanted to do it themselves and got approval last year.
The recovery trial means the official UK effort for therapeutics. Also, so far the positive data we have is on hospitalised patients, the majority on oxygen. In addition, in the US and UK there was clearly a focus on hospitalised patients despite what the optimal time to give treatment appeared to be. Gilead did complain about this back then saying it would be best given earlier, the same rationale goes for monoclonal coctails. However all of them played ball and got tested first in hospitilised patients and in the end they got approval.
Imho Recovery Trial primary purpose was for re-purposing existing drugs. âCheap and cheerfulâ was Horbyâs famous quote when dexamethasone proved its worth.
Agreed, not appropriate for SNG001.
Agreed Matterhorn: Whatever the reason, it's water under the bridge.
I donât understand the fascination with the Recovery Trial especially since the trial protocol is not appropriate for a drug like SNG001 which you want to bring to the market. For starters itâs an open label trial.
There has been much speculation previously, perhaps even some comments from Horby to that effect. If memory serves me right, it was Prof W who was surprised that we were not on Recovery, but not RM nor Prof H. Just recalling from my memory - which is undoubtably faulty!
We announced we had received accelerated approvals from the MHRA on the 18/03/20.
Recovery also started in March 2020 so I guess it was possible we snubbed them.
WelshFalcon - Iâm very certain our P2 was announced before recovery.
I even think the Accord trial was based on our P2 trial protocol.
Iâll look back through my notes.
Professor Horby's understated comments continue. Nothing new there. If the growing evidence channelled through this board comes to fruition in the forthcoming trial results, then his professional opinion will pale into insignificance.
This morning's headlines suggest that Synairgen will have a major rĂ´le to play in bringing the pandemic under control in the wider World. The situation in the UK is coming under control for the time being. Sadly, the current optimism may prove to be misplaced as the current strict containment protocols are gradually unwound.
Worldwide: " Some 4.5million cases were reported last week â nearly double the 2.4million seen in the middle of February. Weekly infections tipped 5million during the first week of January this year. Cases are rising quickest in Asia, with India overtaking Brazil to become the second worst affected country in the world after suffering an explosion in infections linked to a new variant."
UK: " Yesterday, officials recorded just 2,596 positive tests â down 20 per cent in a week. The DOH also posted 34 daily deaths -down 43 per cent on last Friday's figures."
I'm a bit confused over timelines!
Did SNG start their phase 2 prior to the original inclusion in Recovery or after? I thought we were pretty quick out of the starting blocks and had our Phase 2 set up early. The implication in the article is that we left Recovery to start up our Phase 2. Isn't that somewhat economical with the truth? Horby again.......
A few subtle digs at synairgen there. No love lost between Horby and Synairgen!
â Another drug that caused a bit of controversy is [Synairgenâs] inhaled interferon. This was in the original protocol, but was dropped because the company and the investigators who were developing it decided that RECOVERY wasn't the appropriate vehicle. They started their own phase II trial, which subsequently showed a potential benefit. But it was a small trial. They've moved on to a larger trial.â
