All makes sense. Friend works in manufacturing. Already had chats about new products coming, Rolls Royce Hybrid engines & future electric planes.
Someone like Emirates has upto 5000 pilots. Cut that in half is $300 million Yr wages saved. In emergency a ground pilot takes over control iam sure.
This one is interesting ??

An on aircraft computer system records and analyzes biometric data to identify indicia of impaired performance, such as pilot fatigue, attention tunneling, or cognitive overload. Such impairment is identified by alterations in pilot gaze or eye movement, head movement, facial parameters, eye lid position, heart rate, breathing, or brain wave patterns. Appropriate corrective action is applied based on the type of impaired performance identified, including altering a level of automation, contacting a ground dispatcher or ground pilot, or contacting a co-pilot or other crew member. Biometric data is continuously logged and correlated with data from other avionics systems to refine formulas relating biometric data to states of alertness and crew rest procedures.

Would make sense if the future was 1 pilot aircraft. Monitoring a pilot is then even more critical. I read one of the big leasing companies want it aswell.

The present invention relates to a device and a method for analysing the real-time eye-gaze of a subject observing a three-dimensional scene from an aircraft ****pit. The device comprises: an eye tracking system capable of providing information on the direction of at least one eye of the subject in a measurement frame linked to the device; a head posture measurement system capable of providing information on the position and orientation of the subject's head in a measurement frame linked to the scene observed by the subject; a video capture system synchronised with the eye tracking system and the head posture measurement system, capable of capturing an instantaneous video stream of the scene observed by the subject; and a data processing system in communication with the eye tracking system, the head posture measurement system and the video capture system, configured to combine the information generated by the eye tracking system and the head posture measurement system to calculate, in real time, the direction of the subject's eye gaze in the measurement frame linked to the scene observed by the subject, and to re-project, in real time in the captured video stream, a marker corresponding to the position of an impact point in the calculated direction of the subject's eye gaze.

Must think worth protecting IP then.
PERIPHERAL VISION IN A HUMAN-MACHINE INTERFACE Thales / 2019-08-15
A computer-implemented method for managing a graphical human-machine interface, includes the steps of receiving information relating to the position of the eyes and the gaze direction of a user at the interface; receiving physiological information of the user; determining a level of cognitive load on the basis of the received physiological information; adjusting the display of the interface on the basis of the gaze direction and/or of the determined level of cognitive load. Some developments describe the management of the display zones (foveal zone and peripheral zones), the selection of one or more displays, the management of the distance from the message display to the current gaze location, the management of the criticality of the messages, various graphical techniques for attracting attention, the management of the flight context in the avionic case, the management of visual density, etc. Some system aspects are described (virtual and/or augmented reality).
