Not a clue how it works.
5 in our house. Son had the Covid breathing same air and in same environment for all 2020 as my wife, myself, daughter and mother-in-law (and she was/is a “very“ vulnerable 80+ year old).
However, whilst he was obviously very ill, the rest of us thankfully had absolutely nothing!
He’s now well (thank God) and all 5 of us now double vaccinated and hopefully relatively well protected (with a bit of common sense management of the situation!)
GLA for this coming potentially life changing SAR week!!!
Throth that is a drink I have not heard about for years but enjoy !
I find. A place in the sun on telly with scarlette. Large gin and angustora bitters. Jumbo pack of cheesy wotsits. And jumbo kleenex. Fall asleep happy even if not better..
Thanks ndr50, I’ll have a look at Brahmi,I’ve tried all sorts but not found anything that has made a huge difference.
Hi Parkboy sorry to hear of your long Covid memory problems. You could try the Indian herb Brahmi used in Ayurvedic medicine can get from Amazon. Improves memory, reduces stress, calms brain and general all round brain tonic. Take in evening after food if sleep is bothering you.
Hi Cobradan, I’ve been struggling with bouts of exhaustion since last year and what I can only describe as a mental fog ( loss of concentration/memory), which has had a big impact on my working life, one of the reasons I started investing on AIM, I’m hoping for a couple more successes ( got into ARB and ZEPH early on) and hopefully I can take a year or too off, it would be amazing if SAR comes good, changes my life and hopefully helps people so they dont have to go what I’ve been through these last 14 months.
Pboy pleased no long term issues. I had it mild circa March 2020..I knew something was wrong and I isolated but no test… my work required a retrospective immunity blood test in circa June which confirmed exposure and a level of immunity (level not being a value measured quantity) It will be interested to see how the data is captured for what variant people have contracted in the future’ and whilst I know it’s not influenza how they will predict the most dominant variant. Just thinking on your hospitalisation and the trauma that Thoth2 has had inflicted it is encouraging to finally see 1801 being a vehicle that will make such an enormous difference.
Hi cobradan, I have no underlying health conditions, I’m healthy and fit, the first time I caught the virus in May last year I had no access to a self test, my symptoms were initially mild loss of smell and taste ( that wasn’t a recognised symptom at the time), the main and most frightening symptom was exhaustion, I got to the point where I couldn’t climb the stairs, when I developed breathing difficulties I was taken to hospital and tested for covid ( although I already knew I had it), the second time this year the symptoms were a lot less severe, no loss of smell/taste, slight exhaustion, headaches and slight tightness of my chest but no difficulty in breathing, I took 3 PCR tests all positive,I’m not sure wether it was my own immunity to the virus or my first jab that decreased the severity of the symptoms.
Parkboy you’ve been through the wars hopefully all ok now. I am genuinely interested in how both infections were diagnosed and subsequently documented. In both instances was the method used a PCR test, particularly interested in the infection circa 4 weeks ago. Also if you have for any reason a compromised immune system. Appreciate there is some sensitive medical info in a response, so happy if no response, but if interested in sharing, there are a few people who would be really interested. You remain one of very few people in the population to unluckily suffer a reinfection, and it’s that which poses the biggest question I think…as in the future will the dominant variant be more like a common cold. The vaccine if required lessening the severity running in parallel with a therapeutic medicine for those who are at risk of the viral load causing other complications.
I’ve caught it twice, once last year, spent nearly 2 weeks in hospital and again 4 weeks ago, I’ve had one jab ( Pfizer) my symptoms weren’t anywhere near as bad the second time,I’m under 40 and had no health issues but I’ve still not fully recovered from the first time I had covid. I’m hoping that SAR comes good, I’m in to the party quite late but 50p plus would be a real game changer for me.
Morning Mufata - re your comment of immunity after catching COVID, I know Thoth2’s suffered 3 times I think with chinavirus.
Not directly aimed at you (just piggybacking on your thread) but does anyone know the chances of catching it twice?
Be interested to know
This virus is about to bit us on the bottom:
Scientists have warned that the UK has created the perfect conditions by relaxing restrictions - which could see cases reaching 100,000 a day this summer - while large numbers of people don't have protection from both doses of the vaccine.
So far, the problematic variants have been those that spread significantly faster. The Delta variant, which was first identified in India, may spread twice as fast as the original form of the virus that emerged in China. But speed isn't the only useful trait a coronavirus can acquire.
As more of us become immune, through vaccination and catching Covid, the more beneficial it is for the virus to evolve ways of dodging that immunity - known as immune escape. "We are probably at the evolutionary high point, at the worst combination for an escape to happen in the UK," said Dr Aris Katzourakis, who studies viral evolution at the University of Oxford. "The UK is in a prone position, whether it will happen we don't know, but it's more likely to happen here, now, than ever before."
