Mogger,
Nice find, I see they do a lot of oil field work.
All,
Looks like the job was for this bunch
https://www.arkel.com/Home.aspx
"Arkel International is an infrastructure and technical services company helping organizations, governments and militaries work successfully in the world’s most austere and remote locations."
Mogger
The date is not relevant, the fact is. They are updating the Harbour using military budget whilst factoring in "economic" opportunity. So the UK gov has given a helping hand without publicly backing the Oil industry and causing the Argies to kick off, they have been pretty smart here.
Like I said, its one eye on SL and 1 month in Aberdeen is small fry and worth doing incase SL goes ahead. But it doesn't add any more weight to funding be resolved at this time.
We are in the dark Ralph but I do think there is much going on that we are not aware of. By the way; that link to the power station contract was dated 9th May 2016.
On balance; I think the Aberdeen mention suggests a link to our partner and SEALION development.
We have to remember that PMO have had circa 60 staff working on SEALION for a considerable time.
Hi cyan
I think that certainly there is one eye on SL, but we are still in the same place with no funding confirmed, which some posters were suggesting otherwise and trying to ridicule me.
another from the same site:
https://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk/news/view/volkerstevin-signs-contract-to-upgrade-falklands-harbour
"This will boost the capability of our armed forces and help support greater economic opportunities for the Islanders.”
Again it seems the government has had one on the Oil industry whilst updating the FIs defenses. I was a bit frustrated with UK gov on this, but it looks like they are doing quite a bit to make this happen, under the radar it seems.
Lets hope these plans are nearing execution.

An impressive video
Good morning Ralph. I like to keep an open mind and consider all sides of the arguement. You may well be right.
HOWEVER; as pointed out, the power station contractor is in Southhampton. Why would the position require a month in Aberdeen.
For me; that suggests SEALION related. Time will tell
Apologies accepted guys:
"The project for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) forms part of defence secretary Michael Fallon’s commitment of £180m investment over the next decade to modernise the military infrastructure on the islands."
NOT funded by Oil Industry !
With all these hints that its going ahead, where the heck are the RNSs ? Even without RNSs , where is the communication from the BOD ? Whats going on ?
Bootledogger,
Good point looks like the power station contractor is based in Southampton.
Where are Premier Oil based again was it London and Aberdeen ?

Mugger...an adult poster! Cheers lad...anyone any idea of employer?
ralph2010,
You're right the job description doesn't mean its oil and gas or that its funded.
' Partner Oliver Irwin pioneered a cutting-edge financing concept in the upstream oil and gas sector — paying for mega-projects with hybrid project financing and reserve base lending — to help get a $2.4 billion offshore development in the Falkland Islands off the ground, landing the London-based attorney a spot as one of Law360’s 2019 Project Finance MVPs.'
My view on all this is that those that are entitled to should go out and vote today for a government which will allow the destiny of Falkland Islands remain in the hands of the Falkland islanders ! Then maybe things will become a bit clearer... just my opinion.
Well if it was that certain then this wouldnt be ~15p
16000 to fix a few holes he he this is getting passed soon gla falklands deserve it and so do longs
Ralphy thank goodness you are here to keep us straight. There was I just about to buy more on the back of that highly misleading information. You are a legend ;)
Its 3rd in the list of skills, end of. I maintain that this doesn't confirm SL is funded, otherwise the BOD of PMO , RKH and FI are with holding information from shareholders.
ralph2010,
What, they are not even looking for an 'expert' oh well its probably just to fix a few pot holes then.
mogger good news surely i pray we get rkh fid passed - looking brighter on a dull day
" RE or similar " is 1st mentioned, then "strong construction background " and then "significant experience in delivery of Oil and Gas projects". Significant isn't expert is it. Again SL could fall through and this would still go ahead I think, it has one eye on Oil and Gas for sure, but it doesn't appear to be its sole purpose to me.
Otherwise with Jan a couple of weeks we should surely have had multiple RNS's by now ?
Stated this clearly Ralph.
"The ideal candidate would probably suit someone from the RE or similar who has a strong construction background and who has significant experience in delivery of Oil and Gas projects."
Or is that made up as well.
FI are planning to expand anyway. This is construction and power company (as it states) Not necessarily anything to do with the Oil companies. Likely to go ahead even if no SL.
Mogger - hats off again, £16K a month to sit around doing nothing in the Falklands with 70 other people and 6 managers sound good ! Where can I sign up ?
"They are seeking someone who can start in January 2020, based initially in London, however you may be needed to spend a month in Aberdeen prior to deployment in April to the Falklands."
Wowsers... So building work planning to start in April then!
What is the successful candidate going to do for this project that is never going to happen?
