I have only read that Zelensky has refused to concede any territory to Russia, but a ceasefire would have to start with the russian forces withdrawing back to the 23rd Feb positions. I just read over on Pog that russia are looking at the peace proposals that the Italians have drawn up. Hopefully they wouldn't have been sent them without getting at least a "positive" view by Ukraine on them and I think that's the most realistic route right now. Crime and Donbas areas becoming self governing and security but remains part of Ukraine's sovereignty. Will this be satisfactory enough for both sides? one can only hope.
Bit by bit Russian forces are inching forward, and are pretty close to achieving their objectives, Zilensky has already said that they know they will have to concede land to Russia in order for peace that will save many lives.
Wouldn't be surprised to see meaningful talks very soon.
One thing I do know for sure and that there is a fair amount of "cash" waiting in accounts ready to pile into this stock as soon as that peace is declared. Believe we are going to see one hell of a bull run when this happens. Believe that many who think they are going to be able to achieve and buy then at just a little more than the current price are indeed going to be disappointed.

And I find this very hard to believe. I have always thought they are used as a political stunt and actual real people needing the safety net are being elbowed out. There is a big difference between maxing out credit cards buying crap and mortgaging beyond your means such that you get hit when prices increase and being genuinely to poor to buy basics. Many have to downsize or give up some shiny things as circumstances dictate.
And I'm sorry to say it, but rather a lot of health workers played the system during the pandemic with time off and going part-time. Some did not turn out to be angels and scammed the NHS for all they could get leaving the real heros with twice as much to do as they should have had!
"continuous hand outs can remove personal responsibility"
That is the key problem, show them how to is, don't give them fish.
I laugh at people claiming the growth in food banks is proof of increasing poverty. f I set up a stall at the end of the road and put a big sign saying 'Free Food', how long before a queue forms? And in that queue how many would not be able to actually buy the give away?
I would dread to think how these people would handle a real collapse lie many are having to deal with in Ukraine. Perhaps only give people food vouchers which can not be exchanged for tobacco or spirits or used to pay for subscriptions.
I've seen TV pictures of a woman picking up several of free goodies whilst holding a cluster of newly bought lottery scratch cards, there must have been a dozen cards.
@EW.@ . I’d view anything under 10 years old as ‘Modern’. Last time I looked I recall overall average age of Cars in UK was circa 8.4 yrs…..Europe 11.8, so UK not doing too bad ! Yes accept your point on volunteers etc. but parking was packed, but to me it seems many turn to the easiest options first. Remove Food Banks and see what happens !. Living in a rural part of southern europe, where near zero help is available, I see real food poverty via women foraging hedge rows for snails etc., not that I’d wish that on anyone but continuous hand outs can remove personal responsibility. I’d rather see far more effort directed towards the disabled and elderly who no longer have options ! Anyway apologises for off topic & GL.
We are on the same side.
Im trying to just keep it realistic and ive got a good grip on this kind of stuff. I also spend alot of time looking at it so i can form a realistic evaluation on the ground and the ground dont look like a platform for peace talks right now
12 months is realistic timeframe. 12 days or weeks not so much
oxygen - " Last time I was visiting the UK ( April ) I was impressed by the number of modern cars parked outside the local church food bank !"
What's your definition of a "modern" car - a 30 year old Lada?
Regardless, sounds more likely that they're the cars of the volunteers who've freely given up their time to help others. Unless you went in to ask who the cars belonged to, that would be my guess anyway.
"Ive got way more shares than you. "
Pathetic!
Pandamonia..
Sorry mate, you come across to me like the world's gonna end...
Not sure you've got more shares than me, that's an assumption...
Good luck and may we both benefit greatly, I reckon in the next 12 months I'm sure you will add a few years onto that but ultimately we share the same goal...
Onlyonewhufc.
Are you dense? Ive got way more shares than you. I dont talk down Poly, i talk down the bullcrap peace ramping that is on this board. Poly is a great buy but if you are here for peace and short term gain you need to rethink.
No matter what people say here about peace it wont make it any more likely but i dont want rampers and gamblers in this stock. I want long term holders who are not desperate to see peace at any cost.
Biden said he's gonna look at tariffs with China...
Is this relative, yes it is and we all know why...
Influence....
@oxygen - I agree - "so we can only expect the squealing to get louder !"
Any body who thinks the Leader of the Labour Party, Forrest Klump and his
Mouthy-Side-Kick, Angle-Grinder-Raining can do better...?..should get out
of their Cuckoo's Nest - it's hard, deep, turbulent waters out there.
GLA, especially LTH, we're still holding
Perilous times GL.

I am not a leftie either. I dont for a minute agree what russia done is right and UKR should force them out using every means. I just see the"goings on" from a different perspective. LOL
I try to be "real" and not "hopium" as some would say.

All you doom and gloomers, SP is green at the moment so I'm a little confused???
If sanctions are lifted and there's money to be made, Russia or No Russia people will jump on this opportunity of a lifetime...
Pandamonia...
You've spent the last 3 months talking this share down, all weekend telling us it's crap etc etc. It's still green this morning... Are you not getting the message... No ones listening...
Gla. Imo, good trading updated expected tomoz...

I tend to agree with most of your posts re Eukraine
However, regarding poverty here in the UK, while I'm sure there will be increased sales in Pubs, Bookies and Takeaways, there will also be people out there who are struggling and the rebate is a kind of windfall for them which could make the difference by having more food a warmer home. PS I'm not a leftie lol
@BB. Your post made me smile, as quite agree with your observations. Last time I was visiting the UK ( April ) I was impressed by the number of modern cars parked outside the local church food bank ! The UK has too date , been largely unaffected by global events only visited upon them via their TV screens, but that is about to change. The early signs of distress immediately prompt complains it’s the governments fault and thus they need to sort the problems out. That’s made somewhat more difficult when the UK has made itself reliant upon Fuel and Food imports, the price of which it has no jurisdiction over, so we can only expect the squealing to get louder ! GL.
""would you rather have enough money to feed your kids or see sanctions remain" I think you know what the answer would be"
For people more interested in maintaining Sky subs, expensive mobile phone subs, beer funds and vaping and betting shops - then think about food for kids then they are beyond help. The exact same problems existed in society before covid, before the fuel price hike, before the inflation, before the war. The main difference is the bleedin hearts on the left have a few more topics to blame a government for rather than addressing root problems. As long as the let continues to present arguments that it is all somebody else's fault the apparent poverty will continue no matter what happens in the economy.
For example, people are getting £150 rebates on council tax at the moment. Do you think the power companies will be reporting huge influx of one off £150 payments as people actually put that cash towards fuel bills? No, there will be exactly the same problem as before, except the local takeaway and bookies will be noticing a sudden up turn in business for a month or two.
Agreed. Even should all sanctions be removed, many business will not touch russia with a bargepole. As much as russia proclaiming they will be able to sell their goods elsewhere, it won't make up for the loss by any stretch.
roxy... I agree with you... But as I meant, sanctions or no sanctions, the West direction away from Russia is unstoppable- - western governments are going to have that full in mind in their responses to the inflation problem.... Russia is doomed, whichever way you look at it IMO... As we are concerned here with Poly - I repeat my humble opinion - Russians will protect it with their dear lives as one of the rarest companies still connected to the West
email.
"The West knew fully well the sanctions impact on the West itself - and decided it was a price worth paying... The West is moving away from vital connections"
Lets get one thing absolutely clear. When inflation hits the heights its hitting now and even greater. People start voting away from populist governments. People are more concerned about how prices/ neccessitties are effecting them at the domestic level.Wether they be caused by external pressures or not. If you cant provide food on the table and those of us who are jobless find themselves in the poverty trap are quite frankly not interested wether sanctions remain or not.
THe first and primary duty of any administration is to look after its own interests and people and I am afraid if you ask any ordinary person on the street "would you rather have enough money to feed your kids or see sanctions remain" I think you know what the answer would be
roxy2020....Havoc3852.... I agree with your sentiments in full... However the sanctions have been imposed for a precise reason, to punish Russia. The West knew fully well the sanctions impact on the West itself - and decided it was a price worth paying... The West is moving away from vital connections with Russia - fully accepting any disturbance on the way of achieving this... Give it a period between 8 months to a year - Russia will be almost irrelevant to the West economies... Even with lifted sanctions no Western economy is going to have anything to do with Russia... so the sanctions have been hugely effective in punishing Russia... Even Putin's demise will not bring about a sudden change for the better for Russia - simply because the Putin mentality will hang over Russia for decades... In a strange way this situation is very good for Poly, Pog and any other Western company still operating in Russia, as the starved Russian economy will hang on to them for deal life as being the only vital threads still left with the West -
I read Biden is also proposing a reduction in tariffs from goods bought from China to aid with the current economic crisis. Also ready at a concert at St-Petersperg people were protesting the war. Tjhat would not please Putin happening in his home town.

"The supply chain issues in the west caused by these sanctions will spiral to new heights "
Rubbish, the biggest issue was oil and gas and this has now been largely circumnavigated and all Russian oil and gas will be rejected by the west war or no war. All other raw materials an be sourced elsewhere and wit new mining operations again on a permanent basis. The main supply chain issues for the west is from the meaningless zero covid policies and lockdowns in China. Russia in the long term is going to be hammered even post war post sanctions and post Putin. The pull back on Russian commodities and business is absolutely unprecedented and is going to Russia back decades and likely into civil war.
email
Its not only in the interest of russia that sanctions should be lifted. The supply chain issues in the west caused by these sanctions will spiral to new heights and cause further inflation and stagflation. We are only beginning to see these effects as part of a second tie.
Earlier yesterday the IMF warned that the world is facing its stiffest economic challenge witnessed since WW2.
I think its time that zelensky and ukraine just consider the effects this is going to have globally and am preety certain the EU and the rest will point them in that direction.Another point is also paramount and that is I think Russia will insist that sanctions be lifted as part of a negotiated settlement. Its in the interest of all to bring this disastrous saga to an end and zelensky can be a master of peace if he pulls this one.
