I haven't seen any reports that Bejing is closed but . . .
. . . I think that the Delta variant will start to get loose in China. Their vaccination rollout was impressive, but the actual vaccine doesn't seem very good. (See Chile and Seychelles). So China have yet to actually confront the virus itself - the same as New Zealand and all countries that tried to prevent it getting started at all. So in the UK and Europe we'll prob have a diminishing surge this winter and perhaps again in the spring 2022 as natural immunity and boosters take effect, countries like China might well be seeing their 'first wave' in a sense. What this means for global supplies is disquieting if they are insistent on locking down everything. Of course, it does mean that Colin and ODX might be able to start selling their tests to . . . China! (Wouldn't that be ironic!).
Realise this is a bit off current topics and a week old now but has taken time to contact brother who lives in China and has Chinese wife - this is first hand account of situation there
â It's all B/S! It's difficult to know the real numbers involved because there is no accurate reporting, only state-controlled media.
Currently, there are six provinces with restricted travel and the government news states there is only one case in each province! Travel in and out of these states is not possible and they are pretty brutal with their rules on isolation. Typically when a case is found then the whole housing estate where that person lives is literally locked up and guards are posted around the perimeter. Food and drink is trucked in and distributed by volunteers. Doors are taped up with red tape and only people in full hazmat suits are allowed in.
Wifeâs sister travelled north to a wedding and the day she was due to return a case was confirmed in the same province! It could have been a thousand miles away but the whole family had to go into a government-appointed hotel and isolate for 14 days at their own expense. It is cheap at $8 a day per person but nevertheless, when people are on low salaries it adds up. People have to stay in individual rooms, no sharing, and only children are allowed to stay in the same room as their mother. Video cameras monitor the doors and further 14 days isolation penalties apply if people are caught walking about trying to visit a husband or wifeâ
âŚâŚ.â and todayâs big news is Beijing is closed!
Two guys went on holiday to Inner Mongolia and had Covid symptoms when they returned. They kept it quiet because they didnât want to pay for isolation and went to a chemist shop instead to buy medicine and infected two people working there.
Once recovered they will be sent to prison for a year because they didnât report their movements to the authoritiesâ
Thatâs one way to control COVID-Chinese style!
BJ, you having one final final final top-up ? :)
âPersonally I think china is just a constant source of misinformationâ
Sounds like you and China have a lot in commonâŚ
Whatâs it to be this week TWatcher, are you buying or selling ?
Twatcher - you are a bit of a **** arenât you
twatcher - agreed. Impossible to believe anything coming officially from China. Not that it is much better here!
You either take the article as right or wrong. Personally I think china is just a constant source of misinformation, so have they really locked down, is it really for covid or is it just another snap control of the population. If you doubt the figures, you need to doubt the whole premis of the article.
We have a virus that can cover the Globe in 12 hours ( but miraculously bypasses China)
China have never reported accurate figures. If you believe China figures then you must believe that they purposely created a biological weapon to target non Chinese DNA.
from the same link.
"China has reported more than 133 cases across 11 provinces so far"
On a pro-rata basis, uk would be reporting 6 cases.
Quite the surge.
we've got contract , we need FIRM orders !!! : )
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-59033165
This is why we will need contracts in place for future surges
