The have already said that surgical masks are fine in most cases.
Our masks are surgical masks.
"Most of the airlines that have mandated the use of medical-grade masks list surgical or FFP2 types as suitable. "
It seems the move is away from cloth masks that have been shown not to work as well.(see the Nature article with randomized trials I pointed UG to the other day).
If you follow the links in the article you can see that they also include reference to surgical masks as being acceptable:
https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/01/26/960893423/some-european-countries-move-to-require-medical-grade-masks-in-public
"A number of European countries have announced new mask recommendations and requirements, pushing aside fabric masks in favor of surgical masks or medical-grade respirators."
The article is a little misleading tbf... it has a paragraph titled 'what is a medical grade mask', then says FFP, FFP2, FFP3. The NNN mask isn't certified to any of those, its certified as a type IIR mask, but is medical grade. Will come down to how airlines read the rules if or when that happens.
No it doesn't. They have mandated the use of 'medical grade masks' and only some of them let you use FFP.
"Most of the airlines that have mandated the use of medical-grade masks list surgical or FFP2 types as suitable. "
The mask that NNN produce is certified as a type IIR mask, not an FFP mask. That article says airlines want an FFP mask.
?@Syrup..Which article are you reading?
"What is a medical-grade mask?
This is either a single-use filtering facepiece respirator (FFP), a surgical mask of the type nurses wear that are often sold in bulk, or an FFP2-type mask — all of which offer some of the highest levels of filtration."
That article was posted a few days ago. Unfortunately for NNN their mask is a type IIR, not FFP that the article talks about
