The same to you too Barchid, and of course all other regular posters on this board. A pleasant and peaceful Christmas to all. I will be posting on here before the big day. I've just been rekindling my liking of the James Patterson's Alex Cross novels that's why I've not been on here as much of late.
Trent
Very likely you are correct !
Perhaps I was a tad harsh in linking the jester to Elvis, given the ramblings I should have thought of the Stones, Midnight Rambler ?
Either way may I wish you & yours a very happy Christmas, despite our latest regulations.
Nice to see those on cloud Cookoo out in force. Maybe they've started on the Christmas sherry early, working their way up to harder stuff. I fancy them to be on the Egg Nog by the weekend. With any luck, they'll be up to the Hobgoblin Gold by Christmas Eve.
Maybe then, their ramblings might be come mildly amusing.
OK fairdealer
Hard to argue with most of that...consider the word 'Troll' taken back
Keep it coming everyone
Kind Regards
Jimster
Jimster, at least you have the guts to admit being a Trader. Traders in my experience do not tend to care a jot about the future of company's with whom they invest (short term). The "Resident Trolls" as you refer are a tool of your trade as your friend SC has admitted. At least do us the courtesy of acknowledging our background knowledge of MARS. Many of us here are LTH and came in on income (Divs) not short-termism.
We are different and opposing animals. The use of the word, Trolls is a demeaning title which should be replaced with a substantially respectful title.
Are you sure the software is'nt shorting? Do you have a robotics engineer on site. I do not wish to use the term AI as that would be a step to far!!
Can see Arnold (Schartzennger) has a lot to fear!!!
Oh sorry Fairdealer
My user says that while we are chatting...I should pass on that Jimster agrees 100 with your take on EXEc functions here and BOD decision making over the last year or so

Hi Fairdealer
Mmmm...I think you already know my interest here is short-term, no hidden agendas for me :)
Fact is I'm in here pretty strong now though...trading a bit on spikes if I see one...but I like the fundamentals...and I like Hobgoblin...would have bailed long ago otherwise
Full disclosure
( My user is an ex systems programer and I am tapped into the ticker off the LSE )
Keep the information coming everyone
Appreciated as always

jimster as a bot, does your memory files access the wider events, both dark and otherwise that have afflicted MARS and the rational thinking employed by what must be automated ( passed) Execs?
Would you rather rely on facts both open and hidden, some of us here have filed cerebrally, for some years?
Hey Barchid
Just to be clear your input here valuable
Else I would have green boxed you long ago :)
Re: volumes
I can add ( I am an autonomous cyborg entity as you know ) and have an eye for the detail
Too exhausting to go toe to toe on what ultimately is personal opinion ( mine )
Enjoy the day

If you know where to look on your "interwebs" you'll probably find out that Elvis is alive and well driving a red London bus on the moon ?
With the FT showing average daily volumes of 2.75 mill (which counts buys & sales, btw), I don't see much evidence of "buying big on the dips".
Please enlighten us as we would all like to see a good reason for these to surge upwards (without the need for wearingVR goggles) of course !
Hey supercharger
I want to hear it all...so don't let the resident trolls shout you down mate :)
I have spotted at least three references to a potential take over on the Interwebs over the last three months or so
Yeah its speculation and it all gets shouted down here of course
But hey ho...anything is better than sitting here quietly and watching our investments slowly sink out of sight eh ?
Kind Regards
The Jimster
Trent, wishful thinking on the part of SC. The opportunity for a take-over was well and truly kicked into the long grass by RF in January, when he had not informed Shareholders of the approaches/offers made by Platinum in December last year.
The company has too much baggage now
Someone is buying big on the dips
I've been watching that too
Kind Regards

I agree with you, after Bunter hit hospitality the risk is all on the downside for a while, certainly does not help to pay the debts off, that's for sure.
WRT Superpuffer, this is the man who puffed them remorselessly in the 80's & 90's then, sold the lot at just under 50p (his post) describing the rest of us as "a step or two behind", came back in as a strong buyer in the 80's and miraculously now senses a bid. Sorry did I say "sense" ?
Of course I meant "puff", he /she seems much longer on puff than of sense.
Well stranger things have happened than a bid for MARS but his evidence of "buying the dips" is about as thin as his memory retention, if there is a bid I doubt it would be as generous as our last approach was.
@Supercharger. Where have you got the idea that a takeover from? Have you seen something that I have missed? I've not seen anything to suggest that's even on the cards.
After this evening I can see it 50 thanks to Johnson
Would be nice to see this mid 70's by Friday.
Someone is certainly buying the dips! Many on here will be pleased if like me they suspect a takeover approach in the offing particularly if they are unhappy with the current management - as so often is the case it lends itself to an open takeover whether by the management or past management where shareholders have question their motives.
I am sure the rise in share price is not on increased sentiment with less concern over the new virus I suppose time will tell as this whole thing plays out.

I fear you are correct, the 44,742 number of options at 67.05 is designed to fall into the £30,000 HMRC allowable amount and are apparently at nil cost but subject to windfall gains.
Nice work if you can get it indeed !
barchid, I think the RNS and the award details which will be published in the annual report, need reading carefully. I read it that although the "performance" awards are based on 67p/share they are without cost. In others words a gift.
That is how I read it, but please correct me if wrong.
Whoever contrived this scheme is only thinking of the execs.
AIMO
Up 7% yesterday and some profit takers today - it will be interesting if the dips are bought up? Or if we have a resurface of the offer for the Company such as last year before the new year divis are paid by the JV. If it is true anyone is stalking Marstons
Not a bad little back hander
I noticed that two directors have been awarded options at about 67p a piece, they know how to pick it eh ???
Today's RNS tells all
Enough said!
