@Barchid. I'm happy to share my findings with you all. It's information that's good to know so that we can all see what to expect when those cards expire.
@Barchid
Yes there's that too. I just hope things improve for us after the restrictions are lifted on Thursday, and some kind of normality returns.
500 shares i had to contact company and send them proof of holding.
Whats the critea for getting a discount card ie..number of shares ,time held shares or do you just ask for one ?...
Had to request a replacement card last November accompanying correspondence states "disregard expiry date on back of card, your card is valid until 30 April 2022" after this date a new reward system will be announced so if its 30% off food vouchers not too bad although like "fairdealer" i would rather have had the accommodation discount so i assume status quo applies until end of April.
Trent
Thanks for the input, I don't have a card anymore as I read on this board a while ago what the new deal was.
I really hope that they find a good business model with this new CEO, the problem I see is that the habit of going to the local is not what it was, certainly in the south. I suspect covid has accelerated that trend.
On the other hand if people use their local as a restaurant that will be good for revenues, I guess we must "hurry up & wait" to see what evolves ?
@ Fairdealer yes there's that. I'm on the opposite end of the scale to yourself, I've not used my discount card for accommodation, but have used it to buy meals at the Glassworks in Stourbridge as when visiting friends that live in the area, so this could work well for us.
Trent thanks, have only ever used the Privilege card for accomodation and not food, so seems the new system will not appeal to me.
Must confess had half expected Shareholder privileges to be removed completely, so for those who eat out often the vouchers will be helpful.
@FD. It's a small booklet of 12 vouchers that gives 30% off food, but just food. It seems that the discount on accomodation has also been removed.
It is also unclear if you can ask for any other booklets throughout the year as well, or if that one is your limit. And it only allows you to use it for a maximum of 8 people/meals per ticket.
Hope this information is helpful.
Trent, thanks. Last time the Privilege card was renewed I had to contact Marstons who duly obliged. They did make me aware the Privilege card was being reviewed, but at that time, did not know in what format.
Does the booklet have a restricted number of food vouchers?
@Fairdealer. Come to think about it, I did make an enquiry about the discount card some months ago now,and they said that they've got no info about them at that time. I'm guessing that those cards are now defunct and have been replaced with these booklets.
Come
Trent did you make a request? I know those of us who have shares held in trust by Stockbrokers, had to ask for the Privilege Card.
Seems the discount we got on accomodation using the Privilege card has been withdrawn?
Booklet yet? Mine came through the post yesterday via my Halifax account.
It seems they've stopped the card that gets you 10% off food & accomomodation. It's just a booklet that gets you 30% off food now.
These days anything can happen me in for the long term

Good to hear we are mostly surviving these choppy markets, one upside though is that downward price trajectories do seem to discourage all the rampers & twitterati from competing against each other in their price predictions for tomorrow or next week, up 5p then, no no must be 7.5p on the candlestick chart (yawn).
Fact is, if one of them knew what was going to be in tomorrows newspaper today they wouldn't need to be on this board.
Hasta la vista rampers...
@ FD. I hope so too mate.
Hi Trent, good too hear you are still holding. At least the SP has recovered somewhat. Not sure when the Div you so liked will return. We must hope the New management are focused more than RF who is now the Chairman of a major Development co.
I've not been on here much of late, but I'm still holding.
I just thought I'd check in to see how we all are.
Yeah it'll be tough on those on lower incomes i agree,
ashe the fact is many are being forced into taking that unenviable decision. Historically, those in the lower income levels have found solace at the bottom of a pint glass. Those customers are deminishing for the living costs known and to come. You are as am I, amongst, a fortunate group who do not have to look at every penny.
As McCawber said, income £1, expenditure 19/6....happiness. Income 19/6, expenditure £1,,outcome misery.
With apologies to the decimalised readers.
But if your in that position where you have to chose between heating or eating then social drinking is not on yiur priority list anyway.
Im aware of the cost of going out now but once I've had a few it's pushed to the back of my mind .
I believe sales will be down this year but it wont be all doom and gloom
The pent up spending will have been more or less spent on holidays, cars, motor homes etc, and now 1000's are scared witless at the massive energy rises to hit from April. Consumer spending is going to take, is already, taking a big hit. Add to this, every business is having to absorb or pass on large increases being imposed from most input costs. The retail sector is going to struggle, even Food, where consumers are cutting back.....heat or eat!
After I wrote this post does anybody think the market as already priced this in
The thing is there are still people going out and drinking including myself probably not in pre-covid numbers but their still going out
