Thats a good call. I agree it is £37 Billion allocated over two years and the final bill is not yet known. I am not expecting too much change out of that figure, as the initial £20 Billion budget was increased by a further £15 Billion. Access to PCR testing was increased across the country since Oct 20 and also lateral flow tests have been introduced to specific settings and finally to the public on demand. There is a more recent figure here:
"The UK government has spent £10bn (€11.2bn; $12.7bn) on its much derided covid-19 test and trace programme and £15bn on personal protective equipment for frontline healthcare staff, the Treasury disclosed this week."
https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/127/public-accounts-committee/news/150988/unimaginable-cost-of-test-trace-failed-to-deliver-central-promise-of-averting-another-lockdown/
yep your right thats why people voted your lot out & just left a bloodpoo!
Back to LLoy 50 + in next few weeks am hope with the UK opening further. Also Tory election results will help boost price as well.
Imagine the scenario Labours top brass sat around the table discussing the candidate for the forthcoming Hartlepool bye election, each candidate gives their take on why they should be picked for the Hartlepool candidate.
Dr Paul Williams stands up and says I'm very much a remainer and believe whilst knocking on door and listening to the Hartlepool electorate they have seen just what a mess brexit has been and they want to be the first constituency to put to bed the malicious gossip that brexit is good for the UK after a quick conflab and they tell Dr Paul Williams he has been successfully been nominated as the standing candidate for Hartlepool in the coming bye election, unbelievable Jeff.

''still people voted Conservative today.''
You are clearly missing the point then that others have not - Boris helped to take the UK out of the EU - UK negotiated an exit deal when people said it was doomed to failure - Boris gives off an air of optimism for the UK. People like optimism rather than listening to the constant doom ang gloom merchants. This has clearly been demonstrated in Hartlepool which had been in Labour hands for 62 years.
Test and trace fact check
''This comprises £22 billion in 2020/21 and a further £15 billion in 2021/22.
However, this should be understood as the budget for Test and Trace, not how much has been spent so far on Test and Trace. ''
https://fullfact.org/health/test-trace-march-2021/
Problem is that people do in fact forget. We have a prime minister who has wasted £millions of taxpayers' money, an inveterate liar, a charlatan, a chancer and a demonstrated incompetent negotiator and still people voted Conservative today.

''We spent £37 Billion''
We spent £4 Billion up to October. Haven't found more up to date figures.
An additional amount has been added recently to the total allocated for use in the testing programmes 2 year budget , making it up to £37 Billion available if required.
We spent £37 Billion on private contracts for test and trace while choosing not to pay people to self isolate while infectious. We are lucky to have benefitted from one of the best global responses to C19 vaccination and I tend to agree that has shifted public sentiment away from one of the worst global responses at pandemic control. I have mentioned before I give more credit for the successful bit to the effectiveness of our NHS infrastructure than to our present Government. UK national debt is now nearly £2 trillion, almost 100% of GDP. This follows ten years of the wealth gap widening through the manipulation of austerity policy in an effort to afford low taxation.
"Austerity.... could easily have spared the poor, if the political will had existed to do so" (Professor Philip Alston, United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, 2018).
Onlyif,
If only you could read.
I'm not blaming anyone,i'm pointing out the success of the Tory party campaign, they've done a Corbyn.
People have not forgot the 127000 death at all,but take your blinkers off snige your blame game is pointed in the wrong direction
People do forget, they've forgotten the 127,000 and have been taken in by the endless reporting of a successful vaccination program.
The current government has bought off the people with a £550 billion deficit over this year and next in the form of grants, furlough and cheap loans, they have taken up the batten after critising Corbyn and have gone further with larger promises from the magic money tree.
On a low England turnout the people like the cash and promises the Tories are offering, they need to speak to the NI electorate and the fishing industry to understand promises will be broken.
Thanks Guys
Unfortunately Labour and some of the Union Leaders remain in a Time warp and have become irrelevant to people's aspirations. Totally lost it over Brexit. Who knew what their view was? Still trying to escape Corbyn who was stuck in the 1970's.They still come across as not understanding that the only way the Public sector and benefit systems can be funded and improved is through a successful and growing Private sector. I don't believe it's particularly healthy to have what is becoming a single party state......
''what cause FTSE100 take a sharp fall at 13.30''

it would not have mattered who Labour had as a candidate, with Sir 'peoples vote' Stamer at the helm.
Labour voter all my life but had to change colours as many up North did, as only the Tories would honour my referendum vote, Labour got an arse kicking in the December General Election and promised we'll learn, so what do they go and do, put a pro remainer as their candidate for Hartlepool, no you don't learn Sir Keith, you believe your own hype that a photo shoot in a wall paper shop holding a roll of wall paper would convince the voting public that only Tories rip the British public off, you've a lot to learn with regards the "ordinary man in the street", come knock on my door anytime Sir Keith I'll have a nice hot cuppa and maybe we can talk about what really matters to the working class man.
What did you expect at Hartlepool? They voted to leave in the Brexit referendum and
Labour put a `Remainer` as candidate! What idiocy! They got what they deserved.
