Reminds me of a couple of Chinese books I once read:
The Chinese Muck Spreader by Hoo Flung Dung,
Failing to pull in China by Wan King
With the Ingres of the establishment, is this the beginning of the end of the Bitcoin and the wild west of cryptos?
Theo
ARB?
Agreed. There is a difference between money and currency. I am a great believer in physical PGMs.
IMO gold std good policy: as ever devil in the detail, try to peg your currency @ wrong level & industries become uneconomic internationally, shutdowns, strikes, mass unemployment, depression.
We are at least used to handling floating market-regulated exchange rates.
Evening John.
I've had to read stuff more than twice to sink in. I believe the answer to your question is in your post.....a Bretton Woods with a different master. If China pegs to gold (creating confidence) and other countries pegs to the RMB - there's your answer. The percentage of peg doesn't really matter, there will always be enough gold.
The US is in decline. It's China turn for the next 2 hundred years or so. That's how I see it panning out, so do many others through gritted teeth. Your next book should be learning Mandarin and how to eat with your face stuck in your plate - no western manners needed, a couple of sticks are.
Wids,
Slowly working myself through book . Some chapters are so detailed with info , have to read them twice .
Since Nixon de-coupled Dollar from the Gold standard , it tells us US has lost 80% of its purchasing power .My logic tells me the rest of the world benefitted and wealth was spread Globally .
Bearing in mind China is buying Gold /hoarding like it's going out of fashion and acknowledging you're more knowledgeable in these matters than myself , do you think any nation will return to the Gold standard ?
Not a loaded question , simply intrigued .
all will be reset next week with the q3 results but the best reset of all is the clock in my car will read correct time after the week end with out touching a thing magic !!
Interesting Wids, a bit over my head though, I'm still trying to get to grips with this share trading lark.
Theo, think u are correct.
Btw TFE. If you want to know what's really going on and discussed Bills and Acts ect, then Congress.gov is the place - all quietly done - the future and all in our best interest of course../sarc
TFE, in laymans speak it's called Bailing themselves out. (They) create the system, over indulge, **** it up over decades, making rich richer while screwing over the poor. So before a complete collapse they want to start again with a big stick and the same Monkeys in charge - hmm, not in my book.
Just for interest, bought a under counter freezer an hour ago. Made in Turkey, will be filled with Turkey. Stuffed with Sprouts minus Brussels and payed through Lloyd's - not that anyone gives a chit, but Xmas could be a goer - if not I'll pull the plug.
Does popcorn freeze? ;-)
I have a Paypal account Theosus, only used for sending money and occasional purchases. Never had problems with PayPal but many have.
I suspect with the introduction of cryptocurrency there may be many more.
I don't profess to understand it to be honest.
I wondered if you'd see that post Wids.
There's a lot of talk about so-called realignment in financial circles ATM.
Central bank speculation about digital currencies, intercountry debt write downs, and readjustments ongoing.
With most government's spending/borrowing seemingly out of control, there's probably some truth somewhere in what's being reported.
How countries manage their deficits in the future is another matter especially when rates rise but I expect as Mr Micawber said "something will turn up." As I've said before, most of this is beyond me.
I suspect most on here and the 'experts' in the driving seat will be long gone by then and that's probably the problem.
I've yet to see any helicopter money myself but my son-in-law in the US has, he's in the top tier wage wise and as he said he didn't need it.
As they say, never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Just got to hope that we did our best with and for ours and those that we influenced in "real life"... yee gods n all that stuff.
On a Red background ERV :-)
Wids, hammer and chisel job for the many?
TFE 08:00
Who does the overhauling?....you guessed it.
Kick the world's Central Bankers into touch will fix the majority of it's ills. Governments will control digital currency in their favour, so there's only one kid on the block - power and control.
Connect the dots. Kids lugoles will be tuned into the sound of helicopters, free money keeps everyone sweet......until it doesn't.
That's where the Control bit comes in - noticed already?
Yeah the new trendy fashion accessory for turtles and osprey's, nice side dish for the whales too, HTF do they end up on the roadside, do people seriously chuck them out the car window.
Tokens, electric vehicles and loudspeakers in the street, we are almost there. NK must be getting envious.
Did anyone see this article, "IMF Managing Director Calls for a 'New Bretton Woods Moment."
“If you don’t think Central Bank Digital Currencies are coming, you are missing the big and important picture,” Raoul Pal tweeted on Sunday morning. “This is going to be the biggest overhaul of the global financial system since Bretton Woods.
As the IMF article says, it alludes to a huge change coming, but lacks real clarity, draw your own conclusions. All I know is that he's pro bitcoin so it's possible just hot air.
