What you think has no bearing.
Most countries are taking the balanced approach to Covid 19.
Scientist around the world are gaining more knowledge of the virus which in turm may lead to more treatments and effective vaccines.
Let us know when you have volunteered to work in a Covid ward.
Lti what is the answer lockdown and hide away from the virus until a vaccine arrives which at best will have about 50 to 60 per cent efficacy i don't think the vaccine will be the silver bullet that this government is betting the farm on
DC
Maybe you can volunteer to work in a Covid 19 ward. You obviously do not think you would not need protective equipment

I get pizzed off with people like you who talk about pre existing conditions and that they would have died anyway. Many over 65's as well as under 65's have health conditions but it doesn't mean that they are about to die from them. Many people have Angina as an example which is treatable, but with Covid 19 can turn into a killer.
If they did not die of covid19 they would have died shortly afterwards anyway
Lti how many of these deaths were people with people with pre-existing conditions if they did of covid 19 they would have died anyway shortly afterwards anyway lockdown is a blunt Instrument to control the virus and the who have said this put of course the current absurd narrative by politicians worldwide with the exception of trump and the swedish government is that saving lives more important than the economy the people dictating this policy are on government salaries gold plated pensions they could not care less about businesses struggling to survive businesses going bust shareholders deprived of dividends or having to accept reduced dividends also the fall in share values

'' were bounced into this new lockdown by dodgy statistics ''
1.25 million deaths so far worldwide
Heardy
''Winter 2017/18 flu killed 50k extra in the uk and no one even noticed.''
Why don't you get your facts right.
There were 50,000 excess deaths,(double in under 65's from previous year) some of which were from flu.
The flu vaccine was less effective that season and also the winter had colder than usual temperatures.
Scientists have to predict the mutation of the flu virus each year for the production of the flu vaccine. Some years are more effective than others.
Without a flu vaccine deaths each winter would be so much greater.
This is the situation we find ourselves in with Covid 19, which is why effective treatments and a vaccine are so important.
DIRECTOR DEALS: Metro Bank boss Daniel Frumkin snaps up 1.85m shares in the lender for £1.1m
Mortality rate for covid19 is 0.5 per cent deaths for covid19 are counted for 28 days after testing positive for covid19 so you could have been diagnosed with having covid 19 a week later you die of a heart attack cancer or even get knocked down by a bus the death will be included in the covid19 death count the charlatan Johnson and the risk averse other 3 members of the quad were bounced into this new lockdown by dodgy statistics they could have given time for the tier system to work and in any case hospitals were not overloaded anyway trashing the economy to save the NHS again and borrowing billions more for the extension of the furlough scheme is criminal
heardy, I agree in relation to flu but this is another virus that together is extremely dangerous to humans. I have first hand experience of Covid losing 2 very good friends less than a month ago. They were not elderly and to my knowledge or to the knowledge of their families they had no underlining health conditions.
I cannot remember losing friends to flu but don't deny how deadly that can be too.
Ieas just too many strait forward questions for me, conspiracy no, taking advantage of the situation in certain areas and policies yes, try keeping every strain in a box and we are doomed. Winter 2017/18 flu killed 50k extra in the uk and no one even noticed.
heardy, flu is likely to be down this year. The social distancing measures in for Covid will have a severe impact on the spread of the flu virus too. No conspiracy, straightforward science.
So the variant is picked up by the test yeah, so what else does the test pick up? common cold. seasonal flu, any corona maybe, so this spike may just be this years flu? it has been reported that flu is at a record low this year. Oh dear are we barking up the wrong tree? Current vaccine redundant? Did the uni students have freshers flu or freshers covid? Colditz for your granny for xmas for nothing?

''my understanding is hong Kong flu was naturally eradicated through herd immunity there was also the sars virus which is related to covid 19 which was contained in China and disappeared''
It was 4 months until a vaccine was available for hong kong flu.
Honk Kong flu is still in circulation. We get a yearly mutation of the flu virus which scientist have to predict, for the new yearly created flu vaccine.
Covid 19 is not Flu.
Sars was contained because it's transmission from person to person was not achievable until someone became ill with it.
Maybe you need to update your understanding.
CV 19 has mutated , so the present vaccine and lockdown are a rather pointless exercise .
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8914515/Denmark-cull-minks-17-MILLION.html
Lti I have done some research yes a vaccine was created for hong Kong flu in November 1968 though there was a second and third wave in 1969 and 1970 more deadly than the first
Lti the majority of deaths from covid 19 have been people over 65 with pre existing Medical conditions unfortunate that these deaths are more people will die from lockdown in the long term from missed hospital appointments from poverty because of the recession suicides not to mention health problems which will create a burden on the NHS I would also disagree with you about a vaccine for hong Kong flu no vaccine has ever been created in 4 months let alone a year which drug companies are attempting to do now my understanding is hong Kong flu was naturally eradicated through herd immunity there was also the sars virus which is related to covid 19 which was contained in China and disappeared
So far there have been about 1.25 million deaths from Covid 19, and that's with most countries pursuing a balancing act between safety measures and keeping the economies ticking over.
Of course there may be millions suffering from 'long Covid' to some extent as well.

''very strange the media do not draw parallels with that''
What parallels. One was flu and the Covid 19 virus is not flu.
We create a new flu vaccine each year. In the case of HK flu a vaccine was created about 4 months after the outbreak. It is now nearly a year since Covid 19 infected humans with as yet no vaccine having been widely administered to the world population.
Woolworth I Agree with you the hong Kong flu epidemic in 1968-69 was just as deadly as covid19 no lockdown then people just got on with life and went to work very strange the media do not draw parallels with that
Percentage rise from the lows in September Lloyds 16 per cent Barclays 25 per cent
Lti at the time I made the prediction of 27.5 this was done in the September end of month prediction i did say it was looking optomistic as the banks at the time suffered a downtrend Lloyds got to 23.7p and Barclays got to 89p in the end Lloyds got to just over 26p since then Lloyds has passed 29p Barclays has reached 114p my point is the rise for Barclays percentage wise from the lows of 89p than the rise of Lloyds from the lows of 23.7p Lloyds is still trading fifty per cent lower than 12 months ago
