It looks like the buyback has been a success buying below book value going forward recession and UK growth the buyback is holding up the banks share price quite well
4.5b total buy back ,would have made a nice special divi for lth , but i suppose you would rather for go that in case we get windfall tax as well ,doesnt encourage new investors to keep buying back give a good divi and they will come and share price will rise and hold higher , sod off day traders

looks like we wont have a problem with that today. have to admire the pause in buying recently, there is still a good chance of reaching 4.5B total buyback

The FTSE 100 is expected to open lower on Tuesday following heavy losses in the US on Monday and in Asia overnight ahead of key PMI data released today.
Spread betting companies are calling the lead index down by 30 points.
The Dow closed Monday down 643 points, 1.9%, at 33,064, the Nasdaq Composite slipped 324 points, 2.6%, to 12,382 and the S&P 500 lost 90 points, 2.1%, to 4,138. It was the Dow's worst single session since June.
FTSE 100 seen opening slightly higher on Friday after gains in the US overnight although a survey showing consumer confidence in the UK at an all time low may hit sentiment.
Spread betting companies are calling the FTSE 100 up by around 7 points.
Looks like the UK and US markets are taking a breather after the recent 10-20% runup.
