Rights issue coming here. Cash burn is far more of an issue for IAG than Easyjet.... furlough ending and most supports going. Interesting times.... to think I had 220k invested in RR and Easyjet three weeks ago... I would have been down £30k easily.
..pure speculation.. but l will speculate anyway...
Today, "Biden Plans To Announce This Thursday A New Strategy To Fight Covid Crisis"
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-discuss-plan-curb-delta-variant-thursday-official-2021-09-07/
This is a Rumor, from the blog spot page l just posted... therefore it does not carry any weight...
"A US immigration attorney we have been consulting with has said that the travel ban should be lifted 9th September for fully vaccinated travellers who have had a US recognised vaccine"
Today would be a good day to take pressure off the rising political tension in a planned strategy...
Ive topped up for a long hold....
it may go down further in the short term, the long-term the share is looking cheap right now
Robbren58, take a 360 view. Does Easy need the cash to stay afloat? Fundamentals and market prospects say unlikely. Also the size of the issue points to some other agenda.
It is revealed there has been a take-over 'approach' lets call it. So I start to wonder about fattening the pig for slaughter. But Easy are talking about being in a position to take advantage of opportunities. It is expected that a number of airlines are going to fail thanks to the loss of revenue during the pandemic. So how much of that 1.7bill is actually a costing of a planned set of takeovers, not just having a random pile of cash for speculative buy-out prices of ather airlines? No, such figures are not arrived at so randomly. There is a plan. The takeover news is the critical bit which perhaps indicates the big reshuffle of the market is about to begin.
"The game's afoot".
coolebenji yes bud always a bad sign when a CEO goes to the media and starts moaning
.. l am just watch this at the moment..

How's the wine this morning Teddy, or is that Whine.
Not so smug now me ole mukka:)
Blue
To be honest ix be more concerned about Easy than IAG
marararasb - no surprise really, for IAG. There is no prospect of the transatlantic routes opening up properly for many weeks. The best to hope for is a couple of limited routes with enhanced testing. Rights issue for Easy Jet is the unexpected bit since they have the EU market and so the cash flow should be good. Easy J was already cheap and therefore a potential target, I did muse that a few days ago. I suspect the rights issue has a lot to do with fattening up the pig for slaughter! But it has a knock on effect for IAG too. Best cover for IAG to grab some market money is when everybody else is doing it. The other big option for IAG is to sell off the BA asset. That I think is also on the cards. However, would that be a good thing for IAG holders? Very difficult to say without a road map to opening up the main market for that part of the business. IAG was always going to decline in the sp without the transatlantic routes, would it go sub 150 before a signal that the transatlantic would open? That was answered today, and whilst some will argue it was Easy that pulled down the sector and IAG, the reality is there is a fundamental problem in the market.
sundezena i said i would buy at 150p but after carefull consideration im going to hang on bud end of sept see what happens if they make redundancies and watch closely on the USA scenario
Jtan, I hope you're pleased with yourself and with all the money you did not make getting there (very clever). As someone else said, no one likes a smart arse and i hope you get whats coming to you. There are two ways stocks can go, up or down, doesn't take a genius to understand that. You were quiet yesterday when the stock was rising and only jump in when its going down, I do both.
"To everyone who called me a detamper when I said this was heading to the 140's, take a look."
"Don't mean to dampen the mood but markets not looking good today, could be a sell off."
And the gold medal for understatement of the day goes to -------- JG68 and it is only 8:30!
Robbren58 are you crying in your porridge this morning
Jtan agree some people are just wearing blinkers and looking at 230 p and up all the time they can not be bothered to do factual research around the variables which affect IAG, must admit im a bit surprised this morning
Jtan you're not a dersmper ust a very lucky guesser
iag could have been anywhere at this time all pending decisions .
You're never going to have the bottle to buy, so maybe stop wasting your time on this board and just remember a couple of things , nobody likes a smart @rse and what goes around comes around
Jtan, you are a de-ramper with capitol D!!! ahahaha...chill out man, take a holiday..!Iag will not need another rights issue...so, if you always said it would get to 1.50, what are you doing now??buying??shorting??enlighten us....or do nothing as usual. Think it's the latter. good day. I am adding coz i feel Greeeedddyyyyyy. DYOR
good opportunity lies with easyjet, think they did what iag did a while ago, some rights issue..iag will not need another one and so any iag price decrease will be a golden opportunity. I keep adding as i know number of flights is increasing and passenger numbers are once again looking good. Call me greedy but i have lots of dry powder and still in good profit and i believe in a recovery of this sector..DYOR.
Don't mean to dampen the mood but markets not looking good today, could be a sell off.
..momentum is growing for economies starting to lift travel bans..
Saudi Arabia Lifts UAE Travel Ban Weeks Before Dubai Expo
Saudi Arabia will allow citizens to travel to neighboring United Arab Emirates, opening up a key market weeks ahead of the Dubai Expo 2020 trade fair.

Hong Kong will start allowing visitors from China to skip the strict quarantine process required for most arrivals, a key first step toward reopening the border with the mainland and reviving a flow of visitors that’s long been crucial to the local economy.

Opinions are changing
Covid Travel Is Still a Disaster. It Doesn’t Need to Be
Draconian restrictions on international movement are failing to deliver benefits that warrant the costs.
https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-09-08/international-travel-during-covid-is-still-a-mess-it-doesn-t-need-to-be-anymore
Mararab, I’m saying the decision lies with the US government, not the UKs. The political pressure is building against their non-sensical position of a travel ban against the UK and EU. And the scientific argument grows weaker.
So what do the US care if the UK cases rises and we go back into lockdown?! Which I think is very unlikely now. I don’t really get the logic of your post, just a random mix of overly negative views! … With respect!
IAG has plenty of cash reserves now to weather the end of this storm.
@Garonne
..l think it is more that he hasn’t been playing politics, he relies too much on the scientific advice and does not listen enough to business leaders..
…but is this the death cross for Biden,
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/biden-approval-rating/
..maybe he will soon have to start playing politics and opening up the US is the best vehicle for the purpose…
Murmurs where does it say im my post that im talking about americans coming here i give up lol ill keep quiet and come in at a very low price when it suits me and sit on them for 2- 3 years before i pull out
Mararab. Americans can come here currently already, it’s us who can’t go there! UK government aren’t making the decision, the US government are! And pressure is building for them to wise up and play fair. UK/EU vaccination rates higher than theirs and they aren’t letting us in?! Makes no sense! It’s inevitable they remove the travel ban soon
If the USA open ups to the uk at the endof the month there will be mayhem and lockdown will come back in the UK this winter . Why you ask .USA currently have half the population vaccinated so do you really want to go to a country where you have a 3in 1 chance of getting covid . i can not believe the desperate posts on here and can not believe the desperate pleas from officials , if this happens we go back in lockdown for winter , something this government will never want to do .
so what is the situation iag are in this is fact
Furlough ends Sept
Wage increase cost IAG will have to pay wages or make redundancies
Long Haul Flights running at 24%
Estimated cost this year 10 billion
Cargo just about breaking even some are making profit
Short haul flights running but no indication this is making money or breaking even
If things don't change in Long haul IAG will come cap in hand to share holders for more money thus diluting the share price , you can speculate how much you want but can not see this sp rising to 230p until Long Haul is back to 100 % .
So the price at the end of the month i say 135p
“ The issue has devolved into a major transatlantic rift. President Joe Biden has maintained strict bans on nonessential travel from Europe, even as vaccination rates on the continent tick upward. European leaders have become increasingly vocal in protesting the restrictions on their citizens, and have said the issue is now damaging relations between the US and Europe.”
