I agree with you russhobs. However if it turns out he was taking us for a ride.... nah. He just is not that kind of fella. We are safe in the interpretation that he wanted us to make. If not a little unconventional ?
Good luck.
GS
I have said this before that , he knows we follow his every word , tweet and action that is put on the Twitter page . He has been giving lots of clues in there , swimming in the helium bubbles is class, also mentioning helium concentration @ 10.6 % . He knows we know all this and is confirming the tai1 well is no duster . It is mho and belief that he is not taking the **** out of us.
Thanks Russ. Just seems needlessly careless and ultra damaging to his and the company's credibility if he is teasing all this stuff on social media's they approach target depth, just for ****s and giggles and a bit of attention. From my research on DM he's a serious guy, as is the chairman. These things are planned, they are not off the cuff bluster pieces. Interesting times for sure.....
Helium bull
Totally agree with your analysis of the latest tweet ,DM has been very clever in getting the message out without actually saying that this well is a discovery and that concentrations are high IMO.
I think you have summed it up perfectly steadydanny. We have all read the article referencing the historic surface exploration and measurement of seeps form the springs at 10% plus. DM is clearly tying that story into the modern HE1 exploration work. He's clearly a smart guy, knows the implications of communication and narrative, and I highly doubt he would be bringing these stories together and more importantly to our attention at this stage, if he wasn't extremely confident of some kind of positive result. How positive that result will be and what results will follow who know. Just think the chance of a duster has been significantly de-risked.
One other thing Charlie is if you have 5 minutes look up areas with volcanoes (Tanzania volcanoes is worth a search) and if thorium and uranium have a relationship to volcanoes. Past and present. And ensuing Helium being a bi product. It gets quite technical but we are not in Tanzania by chance given its geology and land layers.
I think we have made contact with what Mr Minchin on the back end of Ballentine has respectfully confirmed as a Helium site.
Took years to get here but very well executed with a hands on CEO.
I think we are OK here! Great Post Charlie.
Regards Steadydanny
Thanks everyone. Yes, it does sound like drilling into Karoo group has either just started or is about to. Useful to think about timelines. Thanks!
Charlie. My opinion. Stratigraphy is to do with layers of substances. My take on Helium production is that it requires the degrading of Thorium and Uranium. So my personal thought is that when you have reached the source you are in a good position to extract Helium. Hence the drilling and the bubbling as per Chris Ballentine of Oxford University mentioning this a few years ago re the Tanzania location as it was seeping through other layers of ground.
So imo we have hit the actual Helium baring strata and the rest plays out.
That's my thinking
'primary target stratigraphy' = the motherload IMO,
The sentance before DM mentions 'the gas shows in the upper part of the well demonstrate a working helium system with the capacity for accumulations to develop beneath even marginal sealing units' this to me says that we have a working well that is of lowish volume and is a bonus to to the drill, But the motherload is ackpot we are pressing on for
Found the answer in the Analyst Research:
"Next steps for the exploration well: further drilling, logging and then testing
The well is likely to take around three weeks to reach total depth in the Basement. It will drill down to the base of the Lake Bed Formation at a depth of 400m, and will then continue into the Red Sandstone Group and the Karoo Group. The Karoo is the primary reservoir target and is expected to contain stacked reservoir and seal units which will be more consolidated due to the age and depth of these sediments. If helium is present, it will be possible to perform drill stem tests on this interval and recover undiluted helium samples for grade analysis. We see the potential for Helium One to release further details of helium shows being encountered over the coming weeks if they are significantly larger than the first helium show. We would expect details from logging data to be released with pay zones being identified and potentially drill stem testing details at the end of hole."
So, should we assume that they're starting to drill "the Karoo Group" or could DM have recorded the video a day or two ago? (no idea of legal constraints around timeline implications for posting on social media).
In light of Johny's comment, I have watched the video about 5 times. He has a point that the lake section seems like filler to remind everyone of basic fact (10% bubbling to surface).
Then, to borrow Space's quote, DM says:
David Minchin:"..a working helium system with the capacity for accumulation to develop beneath even in marginal sealing units. These early indications give our team great confidence as Tai-1 advances towards our primary target stratigraphy. We are proud to be completing the process of exploration and discovery started by TC James 63 years ago".
So I have one question. What does anyone think DM means by 'primary target stratigraphy'? Do people think he means:
1.) total depth, on the basis that's the depth they are most interested in.
2.) or does he mean all of the potential pay zones?
The reason I ask is because answer 1 suggests the drill is almost at total depth. Answer 2 suggests much less progress with drilling and a video that is filler rather than a hint.
The video comes across to me as marking both an end and a beginning (history / discovery), rather than as a piece of filler between news.
Thoughts?
