Sadly, gnashers far from being in good order but too O/T to elaborate on! So glad you’re doing so well with another share. Thanks for the tip. Apart from my latest chunk thrown again at fastjet, mainly with the aim of reducing my break-even point (which I’ve dropped by a respectable 22%), I’ve not invested anywhere else after selling so many others to, again, feed my obsession with this company. I know, I know!! Since it’s the weekend, and so unusually for me!!, I’ll write at greater length! Prompted by your thoughtful offer. I had a similar suggestion made to me back in early 2013 on the (then) British Airways II forum by one I R Baboon (whatever happened to him?) He posted (from memory) “If you’re interested in airlines, you might like to check out fastjet.....” which I’d never heard of. I fell for the whole concept of an easyJet-type start-up in Africa with innocent confidence. And even backed by Sir Stelios himself. The rest, ATS, is history! (And I lay no blame at I R B’s door, btw.) Needless to say, I’m not making comparisons with your recommendation which I’ll give serious consideration to on Monday morning – if I haven’t missed the boat already? Have a good weekend.
Farruggia1967: Another typo too!! Unless you meant to be “defiant”? Yup, “definitely”!
Plans announced for a new route between Harare and Lusaka to begin on 13 November, flying four times a week. Meanwhile, demand for the HRE–>VFA and HRE–>JNB flights continues to grow. More positive news. http://newzimbabwe.com/business-38645-Fastjet+introduces+Harare+Lusaka+route/business.aspx
Typo- And defiantly a share to hold for a great future .
Marksman It's good to here, you and your nashers are in good order, at the moment I'm making a handsome profit with IQE, take a look if you haven't already, this is very much the next big thing and defiantly a share to for a great future with potential for great rewards. As always mate DYOR but don't let this one slip you by!!!! Take care.
The “On time performance” panel has yet to be updated from its June detail, too. But that’s not unusual to have been left either. As for the adjacent “Cancellations & Delay Info” panel, the “latest” info remains at 11 April. This year, presumably!
is still not linked. Fastjet, Read this and get a move on and Link the Current Fastjet Places Magazine to the dedicated home page hotlink of the website. We must make someone responsible for the Little Things as a lot of little things add up to a big thing. It only takes Minutes to do this for someone who knows how.
Hello Farruggia1967: Good to hear from you again on one of your all-too-rare visits! Nice to know though that you’re one of those who keep an eye daily on the Board’s activity. Apart from some horrendous dental work, I’m fine thank you as I hope you are too. Yes, it does seem odd to reflect that we held millions of these darned things in the distant past. Four years ago exactly when the price was a penny according to my own records, and again in September the following year. Those days are long gone since the 2nd Consolidation of 1 for every 100 in April 2015. Unsurprisingly my holding now, like yours, is in the tens of thousands yet my accumulated investment is six times that of 2013! I hope you’ve done a little better. Don’t leave it quite so long before we hear from you again. ATB. Marksman
Hello Marksman, hope your keeping well, still looking in daily, just think, this time last year I held a few million of these, only the see several 100 for one dilutions which has decreased my holding to a few thousand , how the tide has turned. On a positive note its pleasing to see and hear some positives !!!!! ATVB to all still keeping just a little faith :-) Farruggia1967
reported an improved operating performance showing a profit before tax of $24,886 compared to a loss of $1.2m for the comparable period. The performance was on the back of increased occupancies..... http://businessdaily.co.zw/index-id-business-zk-37398.html

This SP has been pretty steady since it leapt 18% to 19.5p at the end of June. I haven’t bought in for just over a year – inspired just a week before by Nico’s arrival at his desk – after far too many top-ups in the Winter-era, swearing publicly that that would be my last time – ever! Recently I have been thinking a lot – as it has languished at its lowest point ever, since the ‘one-for-every-100” Consolidation of April 2015 – that, a year after Nico took over the reins, there seem to be real signs of his team’s plans bearing or about to bear fruit in the next few weeks, as well as much positivity here on this Board, and it won’t be long before we begin to see a steady rise in the share price. So much so that, earlier this week, not wishing to miss that imagined boat, I increased my holding by 33% up to a really nice round number while the price was at its lowest. Only time will tell if my timing was good or not. But it’s really cheering to see that 3.6% rise this afternoon. I know taskmaster, themighty and Fjetcrazy have added to their positions this week or last, so – yet again! – I wish ALL holders good luck and for the long-awaited prosperity after so much patience.
Carbonix, AOCs are type specific and as the Solenta fleet includes ATR42 and ATR72 I guess these would be the turboprop types that FJET have in mind (which is ironic as they themselves used to have a couple in the fleet - and even booked a loss on the sale of one). Not sure but the FJ Tanzania AOC may even include these as they would've been part of the old Lonrho operation (as so covered under their AOC)?
Found an interesting story about the regional flight plans, touted by previous management, for Zimbabwe operations.... http://www.mmegi.bw/index.php?aid=70817&dir=2017/august/09 I wonder if Nico will revive plans for Harare to Gaborone and Francistown?
Interesting posts.... The plan is coming together, should see a break north soon ...21p entry point seems like a bargain. ATB... http://www.fastjet.com/us/en/blog/festival-of-speed
Hi Fjetcrazy - whoooaaah! 1) I know we've been expecting two E190s for a while, but am I not right in thinking that this link is the first time we've known the source of them, i.e. GECAS/Mandarin? Which implies the plans for E190s are on track. 2) And, yes, we've known about Solenta's AOCs (I posted the link to their map a while ago), but presumably these are mainly for turboprops; as I understand it, AOCs are aircraft-type specific, are they not, as they usually include details of aircraft 'suitable for the type of operations requested', and acceptable systems (and Operations Manual) for the training of crew and the operation of said aircraft. So I think I'm right in saying that this is the first time that Fastjet themselves have confirmed they may use turboprops, so doesn't that bring Solenta's AOCs even more into play? Which is what I found so interesting. Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick.
Not aware? I've been banging on about this for weeks
... and if we are getting a couple of E190s from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), currently leased to Mandarin Airlines, they are all currently fitted with 104 all-economy grey leather seats. Perfect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cLL4hwmpmc Let's hope they come soon.
An interesting news item at ch-aviation, on the Howell interview with Silvain Bosc - I don't think we were aware before of the source of the two E190s for Tanzania, let alone the fascinating assertion that "fastjet is able to deploy Solenta aircraft on any one of Solenta's AOCs on the African continent under the fastjet brand." See https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/58544-fastjet-considering-turboprop-operations Onwards and upwards, Stalwarts.
Thanks Fatherelmer that's a pity I think Zambia would work in the same way we seem to be enjoying success with Zimbabwie
buxton1, please see the attached link to the Solenta website, whilst they do have numerous AOCs (and a number in the works) none of them cover Zambia, in fact only a couple are probably of any real interest to FJET at this time.... http://www.solenta.com/footprint/ - South Africa - Kenya - Mozambique
I thought Solenta already had an AOC for Zambia which may make it easier to start flights
Shylock, I think all share your point of.view, but the numbers made it very difficult for the no.confidence vote to succeed contrary to what media and financial markets were headlining. As it happened 40 ANC members voted against Zuma ( think of the commotion if 40 Tory members voted May down) and he is badly wounded
Agree Zambia would.be attractive. ProFlight curreny.charge extortionate fares on all domestic routes, but with a new national airline in the offing I am not sure the Zambian Government will be welcoming.
Fjetcrazy Wolfgang seemed quite close to the previous management regime often giving positive updates! He doesn't seem to have the same relationship with Nico and co .Not easy for fastjet politically in Tanzania with the national airline expanding will have to tread carefully
