... and I notice that the seat layout for the DAR-MWZ flights changes from the A319 six-seats-per-row to the E190 four-seats-per-row from 31 October. The new seat layout suggests 108 seats per aircraft. Don't know if there has been a resolution to the Air Zimbabwe / SAA situation, but fastjet ticket prices seem to have returned to the normal pattern, with seats available today and tomorrow at lower prices than those advertised yesterday.
All this because Grace Mugabe insists on diplomatic immunity for assault allegation in Sandton, just shows how easily matters can get out of hand in the environment we are in
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-19/zimbabwe-south-africa-ground-flights-in-dispute-over-permits Commit have cancelled their flights also - worried that any SA airline may have their aircraft impounded in Zimbabwe. Also "SAA has activated recovery plans with every effort being made to assist hundreds of stranded passengers". I assume they every effort would therefore include purchasing Fastjet seats. However, as they are probably hoping that the dispute will be resolved, I can't see them doing that more than a day or so in advance. Finally, who said that the algorithm being used before is still not currently in use? It could well be! I guess these algorithms could respond to surges in demand as opposed to just simply how many seats are left.
Yes I did sorry, but they will too be sold out by tonight, I don't think Fjet have hiked the prices up , I believe they have risen as seat availability has diminished

Carbonix, Totally agree, lets follow Ryanairs policy of -- 'Load Factor Active, Yield Passive'. Attract more people and increase ancillary revenue. Also agree we should immediately increase rotations on the route, we have the capacity to do so.
I agree with hillwi; whilst obviously welcoming the current opportunistic increase in income, a less greedy approach using, as he says, their normal progressive fare algorithm, would bring immense brownie points to a new audience, and even greater market share and income in the medium term. I would think. And let's lay on some extra rotations please. Second, I agree, let's be a grown up airline and produce passenger volumes.
Fjetcrazy, you said Monday's flights in your original post, I think you actually meant Sunday???
Fjetcrazy, you can book 7 seats on any of Monday's flights before you get a 'SOLD OUT', so there is a minimum of 56 seats available for purchase on Monday.
Hillwi, business is business. The majority of the bookings that are being made at these prices are not going to be by regular fastjetters. It is going to be for Air Zimbabwe and SAA passengers. And at that, there is a good chance that their airline/insurance company are rebooking on their behalf. I don't think we will be losing any customers over this. On the contrary, at these prices we could maybe afford some expansion on this route or elsewhere and thus be able to serve even more passengers.

Well try booking plus five seats and you will see it is the case
Fjetcrazy, that is not actually the case, they have just bumped every seat price up to maximum fare of $500. I know business is business, but I would rather they had continued with their normal progressive fare algorithm so that people flying fastjet due the the current situation, could say they enjoyed the experience and paid a reasonable price, rather than paying $1000 for a return flight of just over 1hr 30mins each way. It would be nice to retain some of the passengers who may have previously used the other airlines, but they may take the view that they have been 'ripped off' by fastjet.
