Thanks spoon_key, it's strange AA and Highland Gold's both seem to do it the opposite way around, also that we never get notified of them opening as someone else pointed out, but maybe it just is what it is and they don't need to notify until they are closed or something? Not going to worry about it anyway but thanks for the extra clarification to back up what I had always thought it was until today!
I think you’ve just answered my question thanks
I wrang my share provider, Share Centre and pretended I wanted to trade but asked them to if they could do me a favour and explain if the RNS was a short closing or opening? He said It was closing a short, I said how sure and he said "I wouldn't be a trader If I didn't understand it!" Feel free to confirm buy ring them yourselves, not sure why it would be a secret?
Ferg.gg ring any broker and ask them to clarify it for yourself, you'll feel a bit more at ease than just going by what people on here say as you are never 100% certain unless talking to those in the job :)
Exactly ginger, I do cringe a little bit when I read the SP is going to rocket now someone closed a short, or that the deal "must be close" now because someone closed a short. I mean unless they have full inside knowledge somehow it doesn't make much sense to me anyway but wtfdik lol.
Thought when I saw the numbers in the before noon RNS thought 51K shares was insignificant volume for shorting. Ahh so is 518K - trully significant now. Hope all shorts closed and we we're back up.
They can shut up now and not request for RNS to hope damp the sp like the previous Mon. one as they made their money for shorting.
That's what I always thought and will just continue to do so ginger, it makes a lot of sense just doesn't tie up with other companies rns's for some reason, but opening or closing the short doesn't matter to us one bit in the grand scheme of things.
Shorters shorting doesn't mean the SP will drop it means they HOPE it will drop in the same way we hope it goes up, they don't have any power/control over things any more than the rest of us do obviously.
All we can hope is they get jubbered and try a career/investing change!
No probs Ginge. I'm not perfect myself...ask the wife. Lol
doesn't say anything unless its a potential bidder who has been out bid and has no intention of leaving an open ended, could cost you millions short open because they know the bids bl00dy big and about to drop soon :) :) but im an optimist lol
Hope ubs , put the decimal point in the right place if we have an offer , very poor rns The first one
Thats a big difference with one number missing , must Do better Please
* alluding
Sorry. Lol
Dunno who drafted that first form...but they had a mare. You'd like to think someone checked them before they get published!!
There's the correction, knew it was coming.
Another huge short has been closed, we are close.
Total number of securities in first RNS stated 51454, should have said 518454.
On some it is in capitals and some lower case.. It's just inconsistent. Means nothing lol. Big Background buys mean something though.
Doesn't say PLC after Eurasia Mining on this RNS where on the others it does............interesting :-)
Haha sorry newbie I totally misread your last sentence in your first post there my bad!
OK well I will just go on believing what I thought originally I think, afterall if someone did just open a short then us going blue we'd probably be smelling burning very soon right ;)
Hi ferg, as if I’d kill a fellow investor. He wouldn’t be drawn at all. What I’ve said in my post is pretty much the total of our conversation. I’ve omitted the pleasantries for obvious reasons. I don’t understand why they aren’t allowed to say either unless of course it would reveal a IIs hand and perhaps cause embarrassment. On the other hand it might be easier to kill you than try explaining any further. ;-))

Hi newbie, not allowed to say? I mean they released the RNS so not sure I understand what the secret is? I'm still really curious now what buy/sell means on these as it seems to be the opposite of what I always thought... can you tell me if I'm right or wrong or would you then have to kill me? ;)
I. Just spoke to the signatory of the RNS for today and pointed out that it appears to be factually incorrect. He stated he would look at it and make a decision on what to do about it. I also asked was it a short being closed or a cfd, and got the answer I was expecting- sorry I’m not allowed to say.
