This is a great video on why the Europeans have capitulated on the sanctions and the strength of the RUB:

Travis , as good a theory as any mate ,
If I could post the graph showing all the stock on loan in relation to stock price , vol, number of loans , security volume etc , I compiled I would ,
however I can’t as I’m as much use with tech as an ashtray on a motorbike ha ha
& clearly shows huge spike in security volume at start of war & in last few sessions hence huge increase in shorts .
So have printed below as always
Stock on loan- 50.5 million - highest ever
Cost to borrow - 11.5 - honest ever
Days to cover 1 - low
Utilization- 73% very high - shows high % of stock brokers / ii are willing to lend is out on loan
Number of loans - 137 - ( dropped from 150 on Thursday which was all time high )
Stock owned by ii - beginning of month
77 million
Funds
45 million
BOD - hold 21% of stock
Septic Lil - holds a little stock & many mutton muskets

I believe it will continue as more and more countries capitulate the gas/RUB oil/RUB commodities/RUB, I also think once it reaches a set point they will control it through a mixed
basket of items.
Great theory Travis, can you just dumb it and break it down a little bit for the kids in the back row, not me obviously, just the ones it's gone over the head of, ahem.....
[tick emoji] Travis. Interesting thinking. Amazing it's strengthened so much.
Take it in a longer term context and zoom out on that chart to 1week candles - it's a monster volatile shift.

Question is… when is a good opportunity to top up. Going to add more but wondering if this is actually going to drop more? Is there any indication from the charts guys?
Should have added that just about everyone expected the RUB to collapse but not the case.
LB,
Apart for all the selling as can/could have been expected what I think is/has been occurring is
to do with the currency, I only think I may stress that the large increase in the shorts last Thur/Fri also matched with the RUB increase and again at the beginning of this week. This increase today will it create a further double down or start to close as RUB now breaking out ?
it's only a hunch that the shorts are a currency hedge
@Travis - good links.
USD/RUB shift since invasion started +35% and 150% swing from the dip early March!
