A real rollercoaster. Bought in during the madness of March and April and nearly jumped ship at 420. Took my eye off the screen for a couple of days and closed the week 640+. Should have jumped ship again but greed got the better of me and watched the drop back to 466. Felt gutted with a near £2 drop per share but in reality had I jumped at 420 I would be even more gutted.
This industry is robust and cannot be compared with other service sector companies. With the CMA's watered down interim review Dignity can only march on, albeit slowly. Sad as it is, delays in cancer and cadio related treatment during covid will only lead to higher fatalities in the coming years. If we can get back to 600 by October the future looks more promising.
I know lack of funeral extras have been a hit, but it would be interesting to know if the prepaid funeral plans have any clauses for partial refunds to clients where the full package couldn't be fulfilled. If none, that is a positive that should show up on the balance sheet at some stage.
Apologies for rambling as first post on LSE after years of voyerisim !
Originaly I went long at 245 I took proft at 300 than i went long at 402 and took profit at 460 but it shot up to 532 so i went short because i xpected people taking profits but this bastard went up to 650 i was going to hold but by mistake i closed possition !!!with a lose Than it droped again so I bought at 572 but ofcourse this droped like a dead man to 460 i swear i never had such rollcoster never with any share Its actually makes me laugh Its so ridiculous
Please advise what you have done the next time you invest, so we can do the opposite.
To be truthful we sympathise as we have had this experience ourselves. We sold a lot of our holding (DTY) a week ago and am waiting for it to hit the bottom and be steady for a bit before adding to what we have left in DTY, it will go up from this price, in time.
Keep calm and do not rush back in and you will come good with it.
Go long its down i short and goes up. I swear to god thats only share i ever down on money. Akways opposite direction. Unbelievable
A bit surprised to see the SP drop from an opening price of 644 to under 600p but it will no doubt return. There will be profit takers after all. We are approaching a 12 months high as well.
Thsnk you for your opinion
Midas, DTY have and continue to engage constructively with CMA to assist in establishing the best standard in the full range of services provided as confirmed by recent news and indeed the most recent RNS. If competitors undercut industry prices, they will have to show that they do so within government guidelines and regulation standards. As DTY an industry leader, continue to actively assist CMA in establishing that standard that must be seen as a positive. All in my honest opinion.
Specs1, you have gone very quiet this week!! Your obvious and blatant lies cost a lot of honest punters, you should feel ashamed!
Next big question is when will we see the next dividend payment? Well done to all long term holders. Great dividend record historically, won’t be long. Implementation of recent government recommended best practice guidance has been a game changer to the industry and very positive for DTY. With sound finances and continued government engagement with regards to setting standards. The future looks bright IMHO. Good luck all!
Can someone explain meaning of this news as I understand the dignity won’t be able to charge premium prices because it will be regulated by CMA on the other hand the smaller funeral services won’t be able undercut give me the prices I mean I just don’t know how to understand the statement Maybe iam stupid but i read few times and i dont get it.
Auson, you have gone a bit quiet. I hope you were not a shorter this past week.
Im not selling if the Directors are'nt!!!
How it will afects in long term
It might drop a little with profit taking but yesterdays news is very good for the business. Have a bit of experience in this field in the past and the likes of DTY can now return to buying out the smaller rivals. Still a very fragmented industry. Best of luck.
iam worried tomoeeow will drop big time Surely proft takings and always after such big rise went down
A truly stunning profit of 100% in just one week! I've made enough to pay for my own funeral....at the expense of Dignity! Cheers!
IF is such a big word. If ONLY I had invested 50% of my cash mountain in these shares after the Directors had bought in......I missed a great opportunity! They do not come around that often. But one lesson has been learned...be be patient and watch director buying very carefully.
I think that I will keep these shares now.....and enjoy the dividends. Yes there are rough times ahead, but this is usually a steady , solid, if somewhat boring share. I think £30 is a very long way off.........but it is not unreasonable to see these return to £7........and maybe £15 medium term. Pheonix will need to see at least 100% return on their investment. An investment which am sure was extremely well researched.
Dignity agued against a price cap, so they have their wish.
Average revenues have fallen over the last two years, so Dignity should be able to manage their revenues back up without flagging issues under the revised regime. Just don’t be greedy gents – 2018 revenues plus inflation should stay under the CMA radar.

700P END DAY
It was £28 in the 5 year chart. With CMA out of the way, this should get re rated to 14 times, which equals £12-13. Then as the baby boomers start popping their clogs in the next 5 years back up to £30. And that's before you factor in a 2nd wave
£20 in no time
USA open 650p
I am shocked tbh. I really thought this one was dead.
Loads of small trades going through - are these shorts closing?
I went long at 245.
Auson, are you still happy you sold out of this company, taking a quick profit? I wish I had hung on to my 80% holding now.......but at least I am enjoying a nice profit in the remaining 20%. I think these shares have further to go......they have hit their bottom at the unbelievable price of around £2.25. The Directors have got back in and what price did Pheonix pay for their holding? I think it was around £6.75 So I predict that we will see those levels again. in the short term, £5.50p for sure!!
