My position in SYME is tiny. Dev is much larger. Tesla is my largest. That being said, you wanted to bring that into the equation to hurt my credibility because I ask some questions as a stakeholder. Nice try. Confirmation bias. Comparing DEV to a private company is ridiculous. They wouldn't be trading that high on the LSE, certainly not for long, eventually the market would rotate, based on the fact it's loss making x55. DEV is priced right for now, which is an incredible return.
Yeah, dsc1978, what MAJWandCo. said!!..................... ;-)
I've only ever seen ('heard' in that instance) one other person destroy someone in such a considered fashion previously and THAT was embarrassing for the recipient too...........though you had it coming though the SYME connection.
DSC1978,
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the average LSE board is largely a sounding board of pointless information. DEV's board is far from it, you will often see fewer than 5-6 posts a day of almost all fact based research.
I see you are long term holder and poster over at SYME, so I can understand your fear of confirmatory bias which is prevalent on that share as it shrouded in mystique. (And a loss making revenue multiple of 50x)
I am a numbers man and it is what I do for a living, hence I quote numbers which can be researched by all if they wish.
Upgrad are not listed (No indian EdTech firms are), yet they raised £140m privately to value their company at £900m on a loss making rev multiple of 55x.
Unacademy, another Indian Edtech company are valued at £2.6bn having raised £330m on a (severe) loss making revenue of £40m, a rev/multiple of 65x
Byjus operate at a loss making 56x revenue multiple whilst valued $18bn, and are looking to IPO next year at a valuation between $40-$50bn.
DEV at 24x rev multiple whilst being close to EBITDA positive, boasting the Ex-Apple Director of Education on the team, a deal with the Indian government, the Chinese Academy of Science, and $50m guaranteed revs with Aldebaron are severely undervalued compared to peers. I'm also aware that there is often a lag between progress and a valuation re-rate - I believe that re-rate to be very close now.
Nonetheless, I'm confident in my investment here enjoy reading posts in either direction, I post peer numbers because I don't mind doing the number based research that most typically find boring - The DEV numbers are VERY good.
Good luck with your investment in DEV (and SYME)
MAJ. Upgrad on the stock exchange?
Far too much confirmation bias here. I get it, once we are invested all we want to hear is that it's going to work out. Dev is a young company, 7.5 million is nothing to write home about. The market wants to see bigger figures. 500% rise is great, it's reflected in the stock price, though.
DSC, I note your point, but it is invalid compared to peer valuations.
If you consider Upgrad, who are an Indian EdTech peer with a valuation of $1.2bn (~£900m), whilst having loss making revenues of $20m annum. That is a revenue multiple of 55x
Dev posted £7.4m for FY2021, and have since added a contract worth another £2.4m per year. The forecasted earnings for FY2022 are £20m+.
People make the mistake of comparing apples and oranges with market cap / revenue models.
The SaaS sector operates on very high margins, the EdTech sector even more so. Education/Careers are an ever present, and as such they command a very high Revenue/PE multiplier.
Final point, Upgrad’s revenue increased by ~100% last year, DEV did 500%
DEV will be closer to that £900m mcap of Upgrad’s in the very near term I believe
The reaction is subdued because the revenue and profits are minuscule compared to mcap. If we are talking 20 million, then the stock price would rise. These figures are currently not worth bragging about. That's not to say that they won't rise considerably in the next 2 years.

Further research on #DEV’s new Contract partner in ????- The Chinese Academy of Sciences
I’m gobsmacked at this latest RNS
• An annual budget of $15.2bn
• It’s President has ‘one of the biggest roles in world science’ ??
• CAS dwarfs Harvard + MIT

$3mil is roughly an increase of 25% to annual revs. 3% rise today is a bit of a joke in my view but nothing surprises me with Dev. I’ve seen it go up 50% in weeks on no news and do nothing on good news. It is what it is. The direction is clear….just need to be patient. Frustrating….but that’s where we are.
i agree Bagzzz718 .
with todays RNS and the large recent buys i would have thought that this would have been a lot higher.
20,000 initial units @ US $150 pa each with a possible further 30,000 to follow . Thats a good regular income .
this looks tobe a good LTH
DYOR GLA
Still think 40p possible by Xmas here. Sp underpinned by this news. Add some decent news on NDA and India and were off
…..to the news today! There again nothing surprises me with Dev. More news to come through, for sure!
