St. Ives? It's the light you know.
Lots of mining heritage around Redruth. I'm in Carnkie and we have two sets of stamps, you can't look anywhere without seeing chiminies and engine houses, an old smelting site and a sizeable mine complex at Wheal Frances just over the road. There's a nice walk up the hill to the Basset monument and Carn Brea Castle. King Edward Mine Museum isn't far away as is the 'Poldark Mine' (actually Wheal Roots) where you can go underground.
If you want other industrial heritage, there are old china clay refining works near St Stephen and a gunpowder works at Kennal Vale.
Back to the thread.

April and May are the two best months for Cornwall. Fresh foliage and flowers galore. Don't miss Trebah gardens in early May, like heaven on earth. Ditto Glendurgan (NT).
Why not contact CUSN and fix up a visit to SC while you are at it?
That's westwards
"Have got a be in my bonnet to stay at Charlestown, not sure why."
Your missus wants you to re-enact scenes from Poldark?
Kings Arms ? If river levels not too high.......
St Ives. If you are interested in art, it has around 50 galleries selling pictures. Also the Tate - but I have found that disappointing. Best to avoid the weekend and better still to go out of the tourist holiday season. Park up at St Erth and catch the bay train to St Ives. https://greatscenicrailways.co.uk/stations/st-erth-park-and-ride/
Also Hepworth museum, Leach's pottery museum AND
Don't miss the Porthmeor beach cafe.
Fira Great place York. Wonderful countryside to the North, and a City bursting with history of 2000+ years. Magic. In fact Black Magic!
Cornish trip. Why not catch a train to Penzance, then work your way up the South Coast footpath? St Michaels Mount (NT), Helford - (Shipwrights Arms) Falmouth - Pendennis castle, Maritime museum, St Mawes, Coastal footpath all the way to Devon, via Mevagissey, Fowey, Looe to Station at Plymouth.
Then next year do the North Coast!
You beat me to it. I was going to say "That's half way to York, isn't it"
East from Charlestown? That'll take uou back to Devon!

CL states that it is not favouring one lithium project over the other, but trying to press on as fast as possible with both types of project. They do expect rock to be in commercial production before brine however.
Heat energy power? Processing the mica is not going to be energy intensive spodumene type processing, but will use the lepidico method which I think is far less demanding for energy. Take a look at CL's website.
CUSN The question over the smelter is up in the air. It might make economic sense to have one in the UK to process all production from the SW, and from the Iberian peninsula. Otherwise it is going to be necessary to ship concentrate to Asia.
As you observe, we have several years to sort that out. Cornwall does have a surplus of green power, which it is not able to export to the rest of the country. (Cable capacity restricted) . So big payments are made to keep wind turbines switched off. Let's hope someone can put 2 and 2 together..................

CL Lithium from Brine= very small footprint on surface and possibly powered with geothermal
CUSN SC Waste to be disposed of underground, + water pumped out to have been treated to higher standards than currently.
