What a pleasant individual you are...
I’ve had another letter sent through from HSBC dated the 23rd say the a not moving the holdings to Canada. They really don’t know what to do with this one I’ve phoned them and said I want to wait until it lists again.
Now Arthur don’t be a Silly Boring Billy lol.Oh oh my and my Isa and me me me and My investment -it’s all about Me me .Sad Sad Cafe. Now F.Off where you belong you Halfw-t.It gets sorted for everyone as a matter of course -but some just love to clog up the board with Wuss city Me me emails with Broker etc about MY investment -yawn yawn.. talk about Boring for Wales -Your a natural King Arthur.
Baserite don't act like such an rshole !!! If people are getting letters form their bank telling them their shares are being moved to the canadian stock exchange then there's nothing wrong with asking for advise... #DONTBEA****
Haha oh dear, sorry for boring everyone, but I think the post has been misunderstood. I'm more than happy waiting to see what happens with the delisting, however long the wait might be. Although myself, and I think others too, are a little concerned that HSBC (as a broker) intend to transfer our shares over to the Canadian market (which typically trades at a lower price than the UK market with much lower volume), and we're simply interested in understanding the situation and whether this is even possible while delisted? It was no criticism of the share or anything like that - I'm very positive on COPLs future.
More like can't afford to be locked in.
Most I know are happy, I definitely am.
Patience is a virtue base..... some of us have it others don’t

Another Super Bore-Yawn, Yawn
Just a passing enquiry -How long are you going to bore the board with all that? Just wondering-i’ll guarantee it gets sorted quite straightforwardly with all my holding but I’m sure you’lol be back ffs to enlighten us.As a clue HSBC investment arm has nothing to do with corporate matters and couldn’t give a flying about such matters as they know nothing can be done or answered at this juncture-Yawn
Thanks for the replies.
Likewise, I think it's especially frustrating that they seem to know very little about the current situation given they're 5% holders.
With regards to transferring the shares, @Aargee, that was my understanding too - hopefully we'll hear something more concrete soon. I'll definitely get in touch with them again in the next day or so to follow-up and I'll share any worthwhile information.
They cannot transfer thrm to Canada unless delisted. Also if held in an ISA then yhey move them out on delisting to a trading account. Should this happen then you will be notified and thr shares will just sit there intil relisted...(if)
Maybe remind them they own 5% of the shares in their investment arm, so worth looking into for their own sake.
I have had the same letter from HSBC and have spoken to them this morning. As you say, no one there seems to know what is happening.
As I see it, the shares are being delisted and relisted simultaneously, some time towards the end of May or early in June. They are however, currently suspended from trading. and according to HSBC trading regulations, even though they are being traded in Canada, they do not qualify to be traded in the HSBC Investec acccount.
I would have thought also, that if they were to be transferred to Canada to enable them to be traded there, they would need the holders agreement to this course of action?!?!
All in all, a bit of a shambles.
Just looking for some opinions on a letter I received this morning from HSBC:
"You currently hold XXX shares of Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited (the "Company") in your HSBC InvestDirect investment account. We're letting you know that:
Further to our correspondence dated 13 April 2021 regarding the suspension of the Company's common shares.
The Company has issued no further updates regarding the timing for the cancellation and re-admission of its common shares on the London Stock Exchange (the "LSE"), prior to delisting.
As these shares are currently trading in the Candian market, we have arranged to move your holdings there, to enable you to continue to hold and trade them."
I've spoken to HSBC this morning as I definitely do not want the shares transferred over to the Canadian market. They told me that this has not happened yet but that they are not sure what is going on (now escalated to senior management and awaiting reply).
To my knowledge, a transfer wouldn't be possible for two reasons:
- The shares are currently delisted
- HSBC dont trade in the Canadian market (I don't think - please correct me)
Has anyone else with a HSBC holding had any other information?
Thanks All
