Precisely. Very interesting week remains
Well it’s the shareholder that has to notify but they did say no reason so its nice and opaque. Just what naughty boys want !!
No it isn't!!!
They do it is JPM
Surely the Company would know if there's a TR1 seller...This is my point
And finally, the RNS today closed the gate on a placing ( and can’t buy over 1.2m RSP) does point in one direction. But as ever, it’s dark. Don’t forget, L2 shows all these mms and quotes; in reality there is only one for each stock. The others just show up - ask your broker to see what number 2 / 3 down the list is really asking / offering; you’ll be surprised.
That’s why there is any decent , competitive pricing ; one bloke controls the lot as makes his 5% for his boss via an algorithm.
Well the proof is in the publication of a TR (s)
If there isn’t one then ..............
If there is, distressed seller. Either way, non company related
Exactly
Thanks Jimzi, I think I get what he's saying .
The market maker takes a net short position in a company that he thinks is short of funds and will need to do a placing. The selling pressure created by the MM drives the share price down. The market making firm then contacts the company and offers to participate in a placing.
If the company takes up the offer there is a placing and the MM is issued shares and this closes out the short position.
But if the company turns down the offer the MM has to buy the shares back in the market to close out the position and this action will tend to drive the share price back up.
That's a much better explanation than mine. Thanks Jimzi
Not sure what you mean about shares not existing yet.
What he’s saying is if they are borrowed and there has been a naked short, temporarily these shares don’t exist - they don’t exist on execution of the trade(s) but they will exist or disappear; they are either issued ( to fulfill) or bought back ( to cancel). So yes, in this age of subterfuge plans and massive volatility- totally possible - we await with more interest!
If I'm right this will be 10p by Christmas....Seen this a few times and this situation is excaxtly the same
A broker can’t but an mm can.
No big trades as the mm ask was the order. Have to wait for a TR if any. Otherwise Gota could be right. Who cares, it’s literally rock bottom and there’s a RNS - they ain’t going to tell porkies with this spotlight drop imo.
Not sure what you mean about shares not existing yet. If a broker is net short a sizeable amount of stock I think it has to be declared unless it is very temporary.
Not if the shares don't currently exist!
Wouldn't the broker have to declare a short position above 0.5% ?
Ever heard of a broker going net short to create space 'stock' for a placing? This stock is then offered to the Company as dilution....if the Company has alternative funding alternatives and the placing is refused.....then what do we get?
I've seen this happen a few times over the years and this has all the hallmarks. Huge volume, company unaware of share price movements but in a marginal cash position....
