Xviolet,
Richard Marsden looks as solid and trustworthy as they come doesn't he...He is however unlikely to express limitations of the therapeutic but on the other hand he is not going to over egg its virtues. The science has spoken for itself thus far but regulators will ensure it must perform at the highest levels imaginable to achieve greatness.
My opinion for what its worth is that a small holding may be worth a great sum in years to come but I would not be brave enough to risk sizeable amounts due to the nature of the hurdles it must overcome. As always you judgement appears good.
Good Luck!
Howells - copd is very misleading avenue. Its not a near term or even medium term share price driver.
xviolet - and Fauci is now making noises about the worst of the pandemic is coming to an end. One thing I learned with novavax is that having something works very well is only the first step but actually passing all the regulatory hurdles for manufacturing processes etc... can take a while. A lag, at the fag end of the pandemic they can ill afford. In reality, you are looking at autumn 2022 for it to be widely available in hospitals, if it is proven to be a successful treatment.
I still think its interesting their new website is flagging up words like 'hospitalized patients' and has the b*lls to quote Fauci - if they don't have a deal up their sleeve with the US then they are playing a misleading game. I hold some Synairgen shares - not a vast amount - I guess we shall see.
And let’s not forget SNG are not only focused on COVID. SNG001 will hopefully be used to treat other respiratory ailments such as COPD amongst others.
That’s a good question MJ.
I would say that many immunologists have been on the news channel’s testifying that variants are expected to become milder. However the delta variant proved that theory wrong. I guess it should be said variants are ‘likely’ to be less harmful but what ever language they use people will interpret it how they wish.
Let’s not forget that SNG have a lot of data behind them. It is proven to work and this will put them in a much stronger position than they had been before the pandemic. So in that respect it isn’t that this therapeutic will save the world as plastered on that bulletin board, more so that it has clinical benefit and will save lives.
How quickly can this be delivered at scale and pass through all the regulatory processes. In a few months time when omicron has run through the population…. Will the need be so great?
Covid stocks are getting hammered as everyone thinks the pandemic is coming to an end.
thanks both.
final market? NBC news:
"Since April 2020, there have been at least 16,800 people hospitalized for Covid in the U.S. over a seven-day period and as many as 156,000, a new peak set Monday. The country across the pandemic has averaged about 60,000 hospitalizations for Covid a day."
I think the big question is can this get to market. That’s not a question anybody can answer so we will have to wait and see. As with any pharma investment, one has the option to be in or out at different stages and therefore timing is essential. FOMO on this one is the enemy IMO.
From a dull scientific viewpoint:
The active ingredient isn't new (and is a protein we all have anyway) but the delivery device and site are so the risk of the drug failing for safety signals is low. Since the disease profile is quite extreme for the use its intended then unless the trial is likely to be positive to some degree (oncology is another area, if the patient is almost dead and lives 6 months more then its a success).
Not sure what the final market would be now though unless a deadlier variant comes out (maybe this one can be called Megatron or something) then this would be in strong demand.
That's the risks and potential outcomes I think.
its hard not try and read the tea-leaves
if I'd watched more pharmas at this stage I guess I'd know how they most handle their comms at this point
so...its a learning opportunity!
As always, one has to analyse ones own risk/reward profile so hope for the best but be prepared for the worst …
new website. shiny. leads with claims about hospitalized patients. no RNS.
would they produce such a site if they weren't about to release a good RNS?
this sentence is on the website homepage
"There remains an urgent clinical need for new therapies to treat hospitalised COVID-19 patients in order to prevent worsening of the disease..."
Can we take that as a sign they have positive P3 coming?
