Looking ahead, Plant Impact said that it was hoping to announce further details on distribution and/or licensing agreements with "major strategic partners" in the first quarter of 2009. "The fact that many of these companies have approached Plant Impact in the first instance suggests that the effectiveness of the Group's products in increasing crop yield and health is gaining wider recognition. This has been achieved by the superb efforts of what is still a very small, but dedicated, management team, who have developed and are promoting a range of compounds that the Directors believe have the potential to be world beating products
Interim results for the six months to 30 September 2008, released this week, from Plant Impact (AIM: PIM), the crop productivity technology company, highlighted notable progress. Turnover increased to £0.225 million (2007: £0.128 million) and margins expanded to 45% (2007: 33%) as a result of improved sales in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States combined with better pricing and inventory availability. Losses did widen to £1.3 million (2007: loss £0.892 million), but this was due to an increase in research and development. Plant Impact has a range of products at various stages, from research to commercialisation, including BugOil ® - a benign insect and mite control agent.. The company ended the period with £1.85 million in cash, down from £2.36 million in the corresponding period in 2007. Martin Robinson, Chairman, said that the Company had achieved many important milestones: "We have achieved many important regulatory, commercial and corporate milestones over the last six months. The Group is witnessing growing demand for its crop nutrient products, continuing generation of efficacy data and progress in strategic licensing negotiations. At the same time, we are increasing investment in research and development to enhance the Group's technology pipeline. Plant Impact's commercial successes, coupled with continuing investment in research and development will ensure long term sustainable growth." Look
