Oil explorer Faroe Petroleum (FPM) is focused on opportunities in the Atlantic Margin, the North Sea and Norway. Investors should buy the company despite the disappointing results last month (13 Feb) from the Kalvklumpen well. Catalysts abound: a fully-funded £150 million work programme is targeting up to 140 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) through 2012 and next month's finals, a date for which is yet to be set, should reveal the benefits of an asset-swap deal struck last year with Norwegian state oil firm Petoro. The deal added more than 7,000 BOE to the group's daily output.
THE EXPLORATION COMMENCES!!!!!!!! Rise and shine

Graham Stewart, Chief Executive of Faroe Petroleum, commented: "We are pleased to announce the spudding of this Halten Terrace exploration well which is in one of our core areas. The Cooper prospect offers significant resource potential and is in close proximity to a number of important discoveries made by the Company including Fogelberg (2009) and Maria (2010)." "We also look forward to the commencement of the Faroe-operated Clapton exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea (Faroe 40% and operator), whilst drilling operations continue on the West of Shetland North Uist exploration well (Faroe 6.3%)."

The main reservoir objectives are the prolific Middle Jurassic Garn and Ile formations, which are the main producing reservoirs in the neighbouring Smørbukk and Morvin fields. The drilling operation will be operated by Centrica Resources (Norge) AS (40%) using the West Alpha drilling rig. The other joint venture partner is Suncor Energy Norge AS (30%).

I think it's just that the North Sea isn't as sexy as Somalia, Africa or the Falklands. It has a good track record of exploration success as well as being able to monitise assets early in the process as well. Possibility of an update on Clapton later this month whych could be a small catalyst.
This one looks seriously undervalued compared with its peers. It has fewer political problems than almost all the others! What have I got wrong?
some good buying - volume of 1.08m shares was 50% ahead of average 5 day volume, more than 10% ahead of 30-day average volume and 30% ahead of the 3-month average volume. Good to see
Faroe Patroleum hailed a 'truly exceptional year' for the company as it charged back into the black with pre-tax profits of £14.3m. This was a dramatic improvement on the £26m loss the year before. The company put the result down to a dramatic boost to production, proven reserves and cash flow, together with continuing success from its exploration portfolio. The firm has plans for five new wells in 2012, three in Norwegian waters and two off the UK coast. It said 2012 capital expenditure would be up to £180m, including up to £100m on exploration and up to £80m on developments and producing fields, all of which was fully funded.
ITS ABOUT TIMEE!! Good luck all, Hopefully see some real buys coming in over thee next month on the back of the new well and positivity
Yes some nice figures in there
Graham Stewart, Chief Executive, commented: "2011 has been a truly exceptional year of success for the Company, with a dramatic boost to production, proven reserves and cash flow, together with continuing success delivered from our high quality exploration portfolio. The acquisition of 18% of Blane was completed in May 2011 and the ground-breaking deal to monetise our significant 2010 Maria discovery by exchanging it for high quality, long life oil and gas production from four Norwegian fields was completed in December 2011. These transactions further demonstrate Faroe's ability to deliver solid value for shareholders both through the drill-bit and transactions. The considerable increase in cash flow from our substantially enlarged production base, combined with cash balances and available but undrawn debt facilities ensures we are well funded going forward." ''Our portfolio of exploration licences ensures Faroe has a very exciting drilling programme ahead, including around five high impact exploration and appraisal wells per annum and a very active long term programme of production in-fill wells. As we prepare to drill our first operated exploration well in Norway in the near future, targeting the Clapton prospect in the North Sea, we look forward to a very exciting period ahead."

Drilling has begun at Faroe Petroleum's North Uist prospect, West of Shetland. The company believes the site offers significant resource potential and is in close proximity to a number of important discoveries on the Atlantic Margin Corona Ridge, including Rosebank and Cambo. To manage the high well costs in the region, Faroe has secured a number of farm-out arrangements. The drilling operation will be undertaken by BP Exploration Operating Company (with 47.5% interest) using the Stena Carron drilling rig. The other joint venture partners are CIECO Exploration and Production (6.25%), Idemitsu Petroleum (5%) and Nexen Petroleum (35%).

got stopped out yesterday , still think its due a rise , will watch carefully
having screwed up Northe sea oil last year and caused companies to pull the plug and completely re plan their long term stratergy its only taken him a year to think about doing something about it now he's realised having screwed it up with tax increase and mistrust, it actually produced less revenue. Plonker of the first order
Should have a positive effect here managed to get in at 160, looking for 190ish!
