Definition of 'Sector'

A sector is a part of the economy. These can be organised in various different ways, for example public sector, private sector and corporate sector.

Alternatively sectors can be organised by the type of product that they produce, eg. the primary sector (mining, farming), the secondary sector (manufacturing), and the services sector.
