NIGHTHAWK ENERGY PLC

("Nighthawk" or "the Company")

Water Flood Approval

Nighthawk, the US focused oil development and production company (AIM: HAWK and OTCQX: NHEGY), announces an update to the water flood project.

Water Flood Project Approval

As previously disclosed, the Company received conditional approval on 8 March, 2016 from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (the "COGCC") on the Company's planned Arikaree Water Flood Enhanced Oil Recovery Project (the "Project"). The COGCC approval was subject to the Company obtaining 80% approval of the non-cost bearing royalty interest owners ("Royalty Owners") within the next six months, using a prescribed revenue allocation method.

In an effort to expedite the project, on 29 April 2016 the Company filed an amendment to the original filing, which reduces the size of the initial water flood area (the "Pilot").

On 7 June 2016, COGCC unconditionally approved the Pilot program for the Arikaree Creek water flood project. The Company also has obtained approval for the Project by the required 80% of non-cost bearing royalty interest owners. This decision concludes the regulatory approval process and allows the Company to move forward with the project.

As disclosed in the Company's announcement of 4 May 2016, the Company's preliminary estimates for the total Oil in Place ("OIP") for the Pilot is shown in the following table.

The capital requirements to fully implement the Pilot are estimated at approximately $2.4 million. The Company is pursuing multiple options to finance this capital requirement and will provide a further update in due course.

Rick McCullough, Chairman of Nighthawk, commented:

"The approval of our water flood Pilot project is an important step in realizing the full potential for the Arikaree Creek field. The preliminary estimates associated with the Pilot are significant. The Pilot comes at a great time with the Company in having the potential to increase its production and substantially increase its reserves without a significant expenditure of capital."

Chuck Wilson, Chief Operating Officer of Nighthawk, who has over 33 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and meets the criteria of qualified persons under the AIM guidance note for mining and oil and gas companies, has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in this announcement.
