For Immediate Release 8 October, 2008 PRESS RELEASE ARBUTHNOT BANKING GROUP PLC (THE "COMPANY") Market Purchase of the Company's Own Shares Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 14 May 2008 to make market purchases of the Company's own shares, a market purchase of 4,349 ordinary shares of lp each in the capital ("Shares") of the Company was made on 8 October, 2008 at a price of 350p per share. These shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above, the Company holds 29,349 shares in treasury.
