In conformity with the Transparency Directive Johnston Press plc advises that as at 30 April 2009 the issued capital is 639,739,965 ordinary shares of 10p each.

Johnston Press plc does not hold any ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Johnston Press plc is 639,739,965.

The above figure (639,739,965) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Johnston Press plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
