In conformity with the Financial Services Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, the Company would like to notify the market that as at 31 July 2008, the issued share capital and voting rights of Max Petroleum were as follows:

The Company's share capital consisted of 365,278,737 ordinary shares with voting rights attached (one vote per ordinary share). There are no ordinary shares held in Treasury. Therefore the total number of voting rights in Max Petroleum is 365,278,737.

The above total voting rights figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine whether they are required to notify their interests in, or a change to their interest in, Max Petroleum under the Financial Service Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
