Melrose Resources PLC23 January 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 23 January 2006 Melrose Resources plc ("the Company") Substantial Shareholder The Company today received notification from Fidelity International Limited andFMR Corp. and their direct and indirect subsidiaries, being non-beneficialholders, that they have an interest in 3,018,183 ordinary shares of 10 penceeach in the Company. This represents a decrease in the notifiable interest of879,688 ordinary shares and a holding of 3.84% of the Company's current issuedordinary share capital.
