MERGER OF SKIPTON BUILDING SOCIETY WITH SCARBOROUGH BUILDING SOCIETY

Following the announcement of merger plans on 3 November 2008, the Boards of Skipton Building Society and Scarborough Building Society confirm that they have reached agreement to merge and have entered into an Instrument of Transfer. It is anticipated that the merger will become effective on 30 March 2009, subject to approval by the Office of Fair Trading and confirmation by the Financial Services Authority.
