Capital raised in London in 2018 on track to exceed 2017, says Equiniti

Equiniti Group, the FTSE- listed share services and fintech business, reveals that the amount of capital raised on the London Stock Exchange's UK Main Market is on track to pass levels raised in 2016 and 2017.

In 2017, Equiniti welcomed 17 newly listed companies worth over £7Bn to the London stock exchanges, including names such as ContourGlobal (£1.69Bn), TI Fluid Systems (£1.3Bn) and Bakkavor (£1Bn). This had represented their largest year for IPOs since 2014, following a cool down in both number and value of events in 2015 and 2016.

So far 2018 has equalled last year's number, admitting household names such as Avast (£2.3Bn) and high-street retailer theWorks.co.uk (£100m) to the stock exchanges. With more than four months to go and a healthy IPO pipeline, 2018 looks to be well placed to be a record year for companies listing on the London markets.

Equiniti which has been registrar on 70% of IPO's so far this year also revealed that the UK Main Market consistently attracted around 70% of the new capital, with the remaining 30% split between AIM and the LSE other exchanges.

With Equiniti having worked on a number of large IPOs this year, including Avast Plc and IntegraFin, Equiniti's Paul Matthews, CEO for Boardroom business said: "These figures show that London continues to attract significant investor capital and that shows no sign of slowing as we head toward Brexit next year. We have already worked on more IPOs this year than last and with several more expected before the end of the year we could see the 2017 total for floats well beaten."
