Purchase of Shares by Director

London, 3 February 2009 - The Company was notified on 3 February 2009, that on that date Oliver Baring, Executive Chairman of Mwana Africa PLC, purchased 75,000 ordinary shares at a price of 3.95p per share. These shares were acquired by Oliver Baring's pension fund. Following this transaction, Oliver Baring's total beneficial interest in the Company increased to 1,182,976 shares.
