Appointment of New Company Secretary

The Company announces the retirement of Richard Cooper, Company Secretary, with effect from 31 October 2009. Mr. Cooper joined the Company in 1996 having previously been Finance Director of Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group Limited.

He is replaced by Peter McCall with effect from 1 November. A solicitor, Mr. McCall was Company Secretary at Kenmore Property Group Limited until October 2009, having previously been part of the legal team at British Energy Group plc between 1999 and 2006.

John Fry, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, said:

"I would like to thank Richard for his enormous contribution to Johnston Press over many years and to offer our best wishes for his retirement. I look forward to working with Peter and welcome him to the Company."
